It does work in live, at least on windows. It's a bit tricky, when you drag it to the plugin, live will take focus away from it and bring the main app to the front, keep holding the mouse until the plugin re-appears in focus. That's what I have to do. This is what I have to do while draggin midi clips from live's browser btw. Have not tried dragging it in externally.

Doesn't work on mac, it doesn't appear back in focus, no matter how long I hold the clip over the ui, also weirdly, it creates an audio track and not midi track when I drag Bassliner into Live.pekbro wrote: Mon Apr 13, 2026 6:02 pm It does work in live, at least on windows. Ahh bummer. Probably creates an audio track because it's an effect rather than an instrument.simmo75 wrote: Mon Apr 13, 2026 6:10 pmDoesn't work on mac, it doesn't appear back in focus, no matter how long I hold the clip over the ui, also weirdly, it creates an audio track and not midi track when I drag Bassliner into Live.pekbro wrote: Mon Apr 13, 2026 6:02 pm It does work in live, at least on windows. Hey simmo, thanks for buying and glad to hear you found it awesome!simmo75 wrote: Mon Apr 13, 2026 5:56 pm It doesn't work dragging an Ableton Live 12 midi part unfortunately.
As others have said, you definitely can drag MIDI into Bassliner in Ableton, so I am wondering.. Do you mean that you cannot drag MIDI *clips from tracks* into Bassliner? In that case, I cannot guarantee the exact workflow. Some DAWs create files (thus allow a VST to "see" the MIDI - I think Cubase does that), and others don't.
I just retested dropping MIDI files from Ableton's browser into Bassliner in Mac, and it works for me.
So for MIDI clips, if doing it directly does not work for you, you're gonna export the clip as MIDI (Cmd + Shft + E) and immediately drag it from Ableton's browser into Bassliner's piano roll. (Or you can even draw in the notes if we're talking about a short 1-bar riff.)
Hope this helps!

Hope you're all doing great!
Just wanted to say that we launched a new update, v1.5, which introduces the most requested feature so far: Offline mode!
You can now use Bassliner even if you have no access to the servers. The algorithms are different, giving less control compared to online ones, but all major features (Lock Zones, User Input Awareness / Harmonies, Bassline Library and full editor functionality) still work fine.
At the same time, our Summer Sale is now live, keeping Bassliner at €19 for the whole month of July!
PS. Some recent words from BPB: "What impressed me was that it shows deeper musicality by using concepts like descending basslines, rather than the almost copy-and-paste-style patterns that some plugins produce".

Have fun and let us hear what tunes you make with it, whether it's at the beach or in the studio!
