At least, they're free of NI. Now Magix and iZotope are under one roof. But BorisFX is very focused on VFX and creators so far, so it'll be interesting to see where Ozone and RX are headed.
I don't see much of a future for products like VocalSynth, the reverbs, StutterEdit or Trash.

Yes, I was wondering that too. Promises of doing the same tend to be told at the start of a big change like this, but can fade over time.
It also makes me wonder what will become of the Izotope software linked in the Native Access app. If it will continue to be available indefinitely from here on still or will it eventually be pulled too..

I think they kept both accounts active or around so I don't think there's an issue, maybe those who purchased Izotope products with the NI account might have issues and needs to be sorted out then later.
I have a wait-and-see, but it looks like the product families will be intact concerning audio mixing/mastering/processing. But I'm also not sure about the me-too plugins like the reverbs et rest.

Get ready for continued insane perpetual license pricing just to push subscriptions onto people. “Get the full Boris FX suite now starting at just €110 per
Month!”
Ob yeah.. you can also subscribe to each app and plugin individually…
Boris FX is also the new home for Samplitude, Vegas Pro, Soundforge et al. Are these tools being used anywhere besides pro post production houses?
I think that sets the tone of who iZotope will still cater to going forward. In two years time their whole product line probably consolidated into RX and Ozone.
Also.. a while back we converted our iZotope account to NI to be able to log in wit Native ID. What happens to that now? I have no more iZotope credentials or account. Just the NI one with which I log on to iZotope.

Well, let's put it that way: if that is even possible at all, Samplitude has become even more irrelevant on the market since Boris took over. Nobody is talking about it at all anymore; not here, not on Gearspace, not on Soundonsound. Everyone lost interest in it.Morty-C-137 wrote: Thu Jul 02, 2026 1:30 pm Boris FX is also the new home for Samplitude, Vegas Pro, Soundforge et al. Instead of creating momentum, they killed off every last bit of good-will some still might have had.
And yet Boris is a company that is currently grabbing everything they can get their greasy fingers on. Now what company does that remind me of? Ah, yes, Magix.
They're basically repeating the same mistakes.
But I digress: I don't see a reason to expect a better outcome for the Izotope stuff.

Boris does seem to have a habit of keeping older product lines alive a lot longer than anyone would expect. All the old Sonic Foundry/Sony stuff still resides in their catalog, which surprises me. I don't know who still _uses_ those, but...well, they keep 'em alive so somebody still is, I guess.
Also of interest is Boris still owning Sequoia, which was the big mastering rig for a while (I don't know if it still is, but whatever).
At least Boris doesn't seem like it's going to be carved up by private equity anytime soon.

Never heard of Boris but just looking at their products listing, there lots of tools in there that I've used in the distant past or known of - Vegas, Saphire, Sequoia, Soundforge, Acid Pro, Samplitude. Many I didn't know still even existed.
I agree with the poster above that the verbs, Trash, Vocal Synth, etc. are probably dead with Ozone and RX surviving. Glad I started moving away from iZotope (and NI) years ago.
It looks Boris supports perpetual licenses for all their products. However they seem mostly focused on the video production market (not sure of their market penetration), and those tools generally command a premium. Nothing in their product suite strikes me as inexpensive in relation to the general audio tool market. So for those hoping the acquiring company would pull back from Ozone's insane pricing, it's probably best to give up on that idea and start looking at potential replacements.

Agreed, just a single ower-held software aggregator. Some AI slop on that topic:NullDevice wrote: Thu Jul 02, 2026 2:34 pm At least Boris doesn't seem like it's going to be carved up by private equity anytime soon.
No, Boris FX is not owned by a private equity firm.It remains a privately held, independent company founded and led by its original creator and CEO, Boris Yamnitsky.
While much of the digital audio workstation (DAW) and visual effects (VFX) industry has been bought up by private equity over the last few years—such as Avid (STG), FL Studio (Hg), and Pro Tools—Boris FX has instead acted as an independent consolidator. Rather than being acquired, they have steadily bought out other creative software tools using their own capital and revenue.
Their acquisitions include:
VFX & Tracking: GenArts (Sapphire), Imagineer Systems (Mocha), Silhouette, and SynthEyes.
Audio & Video Editing: The former MAGIX professional lineup (Vegas Pro, Sound Forge, Acid Pro, Samplitude, and Sequoia) and iZotope (RX, Ozone).

They're 31 years old. A respectable name in the video industry. I think iZotope will be fine.

I think they will be fine too. While Samplitude hasn't been talked about much on social media, Boris has been really good for us users. My only question is why would any Samplitude Suite user ever want to move "up" to Sequoia? Boris seems to be turning the former Magix developers in Germany loose!

Boris acquired Samplitude and Sequoia last September and the rest of what Magix had bought from Sony a few months ago. To be fair, STG isn't exactly private equity. They are a cloud developer and Avid has been offering cloud video editing for some time.

I mean that's kindof how Izotope is now, or at least was as of 2020-ish when I last bought anything. Annual updates (with rather expensive prices even for updates) and only the most critical of updates in the meantime.Morty-C-137 wrote: Thu Jul 02, 2026 1:30 pm Get ready for continued insane perpetual license pricing just to push subscriptions onto people. “Get the full Boris FX suite now starting at just €110 per
