Yes, it's called a rug pull; companies have been doing them forever, and consumers have (somehow) been falling for them over and over again forever as well

Not sure what to expect. Boris FX has been around a long time, and their catalog is keeping old products alive so far.

I am very curious how licenses will be separated from NI and what the login methods will be in the future.

The whole NI/PA/Izotope thing was a complete mess.

and everyone panicked with the NI thing. give it some time. am hoping it's a productive relationship, and izotope continues to evolve. anyway, no reason to panic in advance over random possibilities...

As someone who is still fighting panic attacks (but none in years), random possibilities are exactly the source of panic :hihi: Reason has no part in it, unfortunately.

Still, always a good reminder…

Stay present. Know Izotope continues forward as much as we know it.

I don’t know that I’m dropping money on them, but the dust will settle after a product cycle or two and then we’ll really know more.

One more AI slopinion... this one looks like good news for those invested in iZotope:

Does Boris tend to update, improve, and innovate their acquired products over time, or do they mostly just keep them at steady state?

Boris FX has a proven track record of actively updating, improving, and innovating the products they acquire rather than letting them sit at a steady state.

When a large software developer or private equity firm buys a creative tool, it often risks entering "maintenance mode." Boris FX tends to do the exact opposite by treating acquisitions as long-term investments and injecting their own engineering resources into them.

1. Cross-Pollination of Core Tech
Boris FX’s most consistent strategy is taking their flagship internal technology—like Mocha’s planar tracking or Continuum’s visual effects—and baking them directly into newly acquired software.

2. Immediate Infrastructure & Performance Overhauls
Instead of just rebadging the software, they typically address long-standing engineering debt, performance bottlenecks, and modern hardware optimization right out of the gate.

I have used Borisfx software for 20 years or so. Great company, I can still run software on an old Mac mini I bought from them 20 years ago.
Surfing, skateboarding, Music Making Man and tech fool.
Poop band remixes. poop remixes

If only iZotope would do us all a solid and enable iLok Machine activation for all our licenses. Then at least that faff and worry would be remedied.

iLok, yack! :-).

Sadly, BorisFX's customer support has been less than stellar. Still waiting for a follow-up on a ticket opened 7 weeks ago, lol.

Post

iZotope is being passed like a ball recently. Not good for employee morale IMHO.
