Hi! I'm looking for the Cakewalk Project5 v2.0 ISO to restore some old projects, but I can't find it anywhere since it's abandonware. If anyone still has a backup of the install disc in their Google Drive, could you please send me a PM? Thanks!

I think it will be very hard to find since It was before Downloading big apps was a thing so they only came on CD's or DVD's.

So the only option is to search on the Archeological high seas for a copy where they might have a copy of the forgotten past

Not so much forgotten as it's better than alot of modern crapola, I still use it... I pretty much have all versions... 1.1, 1.5, 2.0, 2.51... However I don't recommend 2.51 as you can't read wrapped plugs anymore & the VST scanning rather sucks so I stick with 2.0-




However mine's on discs that are packed away as if you have it installed you don't need your discs hanging around anymore only thing I can say is I will bookmark this thread & if I come across it I'll make an effort... I have many bins...

I have physical copies of both v1 and v2. Not sure of the ethics/legality of sharing the ISO though.

There's actually one for sale on eBay right now.

Yep - I still have the original box and manual, including DVD's with the updates. Like the poster above me, I am not sure about sharing that ISO. It seems that this will be a legal problem, and I am not sure about that.

Anyway - When Project 5 was discontinued I reluctantly went to Ableton Live because of the "somewhat" similarities, only to drop Live at a later point and jumped to Bitwig. For me Bitwig is a good successor to Project 5. I have not used Project 5 V2 for a long time, and I do not even know it will still run. Not that it would run on my systems, because I use a mix of MacOS and Linux, so...

When the guy who was coding Project5 & Kinetic left that was the end of those two... Now Cakewalk itself been gone along time & nobody ever mentioned Project5 again... Any license agreements are with Cakewalk, not anyone else so I don't see the issue in sharing... "If You leave your software on the Prairie then I'm gonna pick it up & put it on my head & use it"...If there's one on EBAY maybe OP will 'feel better' about getting that then>>>

Assuming the OP owns a valid P5 license (which he presumably does if he’s trying to access his old P5 projects), I don’t see a problem with sharing the installation file. The license grants the user to use the software, not the install.exe.

Is the file format different from Cakewalk Sonar? Seeing as Sonar has a free version that opens cwp-files.

Project5 & Kinetic are compatible not with SONAR though...

The EULA with my original copy states that no part of the software, specifically including
the installation exe, can be shared in any way. Sorry.

That is not how it works. There is still a copyright holder.

Goes to show that people are way off on 'copyright'... In order for there to be an 'infringement' there must be a profit made on it... Simply 'having' or 'using' does not qualify... You can use any copyright anything as long as you don't make a profit off it, this is because the USA is a corporation, not a country... If someone claims copyright infringement it is your right to ask for proof of that & THEY must provide it... Proof of copyright or pending & it is against the law to NOT provide it...

If it were not this way cops could kick down your door & arrest you for any DVD movies you could not provide proof of payment for, yet bootleggers are prosecuted since they are 'profiting'... Hell even crackers have known all this for years...

The USA is a corporation, says that in the USA code... 'United States Means - A Federal Corporation' look it up... This is why a person is 'CHARGED' with a crime & only on the final court paperwork does there appear a monetary amount, so EVERYTHING is civil... Your birth 'certificate' is the creation of an account & there is no actual recording of live birth... 'Certificate' is a document that denotes ownership like gold certificate, silver certificate, etc...
