Still trying to figure out how to load a subtype preset - and then save the whole FULL preset you've had loaded.
It seems to reload the saved version of the full preset (which overwrites the sub preset you've loaded) when you choose that to save to...

no, technically it's possible to implement but I guess it's not of much usage in musical context.

so yes it's a general *finishing* of a room

regarding sub-presets. Each sub-preset contains its own sub-set of full preset params. full preset and sub-presets are not connected. so if you load some sub-preset and then a full one the plug-in state will be overritten.

Hi Denis,
I understand why you wouldn't want to load a bunch of these - but if it's just for a general feeling of the room, why have presets for different floors and ceilings and walls etc?
I don't want to set a materials filter based on just the floor or ceiling - maybe the walls - but realistically, I'd be looking for a combination of the floor/ceiling/walls etc.
Why not just have general "Materials" presets like "lots of recording equipment and guitar amps etc" or "the inside of a cave" or "a movie theatre" etc etc?

But why would you want this? That means I'd have to load a full preset and then any sub-presets, to tweak it - and do this every time.

Surely, the whole point is:
- load your full preset
- load a nice sub preset or two (which saves having to change a bunch of things)
- then save the whole thing - as a full preset.

Otherwise, sub presets are only temporary things - and why would I want this?

I'm not trying to be awkward - just trying to understand the reason for some of these things.

ah I see what you mean. you are referring to sub-preset folder names. these are just arbitrary, I might change them. so material sub-preset is just a 'finishing of a room'

>Why not just have general "Materials" presets like "lots of recording equipment and guitar amps etc" or "the inside of a cave" or "a movie theatre" etc etc?

ok, let's break it down. in Reverside we simulate 3 different physical phenomena:

1) frequency-dependent absorption of room surfaces. controlled by: walls absorption and material filters. the effect/amount depends on a number of bounces

2) frequency-dependent absorption of air (which depends on a distance a sound has traveled). controlled by decay (in ERs)

3) the absorption due to a 'stuff' like furniture/people/etc a in room. controlled by 'Fill'

Materials pertain to 1) only. but yeah maybe it's worth adding a combined dedicated preset for 'room feel'

>Otherwise, sub presets are only temporary things - and why would I want this?

well, this is a technical decision. I understand that from user's standpoint it'd be easier just to have some fixed number of pre-defined presets, which conceptually would be treated like external wav files do in samplers. there are technical challenges to have both editable/sharable and locked-to-plug-in-state settings. I mean in samplers if you make a preset and want to share it with others you'd have somehow to sync wav files (the presets refer to as part of their 'state') too. this is the same type of a problem.

Hi Denis,
I might change them. so material sub-preset is just a 'finishing of a room'
That's a good idea ;)

Maybe then don't even bother with the sub presets?
Otherwise - couldn't you make it so that when a sub preset loads - the "full" preset is still listed at the top - so we could save the "full" preset with those "sub" settings as part of it?

These questions are bound to come up later, so we may as well talk about it now ;)

I found a funny bug in Windows.
In Position display - If I Right-drag the 3D display it pans as expected BUT I can't turn this off. So I can't move the mouse without spinning the display contents around. Even if I go in to a different view, if I come back to POSITION my mouse movements still move the 3D display around. It is "stuck".
The only way I turn this OFF is to reload Reverside - then everything is normal.

I've encountered this, too. I was desperately clicking on random areas of the gui in order to "defocus" the 3D display.

regarding right mouse drag in 3D Display. It could not reproduce it on my systems. I made some changes to mouse handling code. could you please re-check it in this new build?
