Free drum synthesis instrument.

Saw that someone has mentioned this in another post, but no dedicated thread about it yet.

"VRAC is a sample-based drum machine designed to turn any sound into a drum kit. Drop a sample, set the sample start and shape each hit by morphing between kick, snare, hat and clap models. VRAC turns raw audio into punchy, original beats built for the stage, the studio or both."

Not quite as deep as Forever 89 Visco. But (and I'm echoing the thoughts of John Lehmkuhl from a video he did), I agree with him that this is most likely a scaled down version to later be released as a full paid one. I really hope so anyway.

The sound examples on the webpage don't do a great job at showing off the capabilities. So, definitely recommended to download it and try it out.

Had some fun with this last week. It has 8 separate outputs for the 8 pads but looks like they're not being fed in this 1.0 version - could be that's gonna be in a paid version?

I watched that video, and I felt like there was a 'sameness' to the sounds it was putting out. I haven't tried it myself though, so that may not always be the case.

I tried VRAC last night and think its great. Random Metal has been awesome so far too. I’ve been using it for a few weeks.

I guess you could say it's intentional, as it is morphing / "drumifying" your sounds into a point somewhere between just four categories - kick, snare, hat & clap. But, it was a very brief video and the main way to get different sounds is to experiment with different source material. So, as long as you've got a large collection of samples to test out, you can easily get some interesting stuff.

Works well with plonks. Gives you 3 more plonks, plus 4 glitchy tick-tack sounds.

That's good, 'cause guess what? I got a fever and the only prescription is more plonk.

VRAC is pretty cool imo... nice freebie :tu:
