Some MIJ Epiphone's have the Gibson headstock. They're pretty nice if you can find one for under $800, but I wouldn't pay more than that. Epiphone Elitist's don't have the Gibson headstock but they're even nicer, you can find them for around $1K and they're completely worth it. I think tapper mike would like those because they have faster necks than Gibson's and other Epiphone's.

Retract everything I said, after trying 010's on a new arrival with 24.75" scale.lfm wrote: Mon Mar 02, 2026 9:20 pmThat makes perfect sense.tapper mike wrote: Mon Mar 02, 2026 1:45 pm For the most part over the years
My LP's and other 24.7 guitars have always had tens.
My solid body 25.5 have always had nines
From having used hybrid 009-046 on all electrics for 20 years, but only had Fenders for 7 years, I will try 010 on LP. Having played Fender a lot hybrid on LP feels like rubberbands.
It felt really heavy to manage. First G, B and E most essential, since playing style is different on wound strings, for me at least.
So got to a string tension calculator and found why
- moving same string guage from 24.75" to 25.5" is roughtly 0.5 kg heavier tension
- moving 009 and 011 to 010 and 013 is 1.5 kg and 2.0 kg heavier tension on 24.75"
- G-string 016 to 017 1 kg heavier on 24.75"
So staying with the great idea with hybrid sets 009-046 on all solidbody electrics whether 24.75" or 25.5".

My main guitar is a 2011 Traditional Pro that I bought new. It's a gold top with the wonderful thick neck. I went heretic with it and put a Graph Tech Ghost FR on it, with the Hexpander board so I can use it as a synth controller. I also replaced the bridge pickup with a DiMarzio Norton. It sounds and plays wonderful.Uncle E wrote: Thu Feb 26, 2026 6:27 pm The 2014-2018 Traditional's and Signature I've played had incredible tops, wonderful 50s-style chunky necks, and incredible tone. That said, I'm completely burnt out on figured tops and have no interest in them now.
A spectral heretic...

The Norton is a great pickup!
