And yes, those piecemeal deals aren't as great as they first seem, are they?
yup. But I got lots of use out of those IKM products. They get the job done.

I think unless IKM change their policy, it make sense to just sit it out and keep waiting until what I have is legacy and then jump into TS far in the future.

Yes (sorry for the typo - spell-check did not pick it up :))

Total Studio 3.5 MAX could currently save you about $/€12,000 off the standard list price. Mind you, finding buyers at the moment could be tricky.

Hi everyone! I'm new here and I was wondering if anyone could have some quick instructions on the topic of "thinning the herd", as the OP nicely put it.

I installed SampleTank 4 Max using the IK Multimedia Product Manager, with all the default settings, and I'd like to remove some of the instruments (all the acoustic pianos and all the voices). They take up a significant amount of space (the ST4 ones are more than 50GB and the ST3 ones are not small at all either), so I figured it would be worth trying.

The link posted on the first page here no longer works and I haven't been able to find anything concrete on this topic. As there is no "uninstall" option in the IK Multimedia Product Manager, I wonder: is it simply a matter of deleting some files?

I can see piano-related folders and individual .pak files in:
- C:\Users\Public\Documents\IK Multimedia\SampleTank 4\Samples\SampleTank 4\Acoustic Pianos\;
- C:\Users\Public\Documents\IK Multimedia\SampleTank 4\Instruments\SampleTank 4\
- C:\Users\Public\Documents\IK Multimedia\SampleTank 3\Samples\;
- C:\Users\Public\Documents\IK Multimedia\SampleTank 3\Library Info\;
- C:\Users\Public\Documents\IK Multimedia\SampleTank 3\Instruments\
- C:\Users\Public\Documents\IK Multimedia\SampleTank 3\Patterns\

If I just delete those, will SampleTank crash or will it just no longer be able to play the acoustic piano and voice instruments? I would love to know your thoughts and suggestions. Thank you!

Yes

Correct, it won't be able to load those sounds when you click on them in the browser. It shouldn't crash the app/plugin.

That was really fast and helpful. Thank you very much, @satYatunes!

It's the samples that take up space. You might consider moving them off to a backup drive, and then creating links back to where they came from. Keeping the other paths in existence may prove lucky in future upgrades, (as their Program Manager can be fickle) or when your needs/tastes have changed in a few years.
Cheers

Yeah, I recently started installing Pianoverse Max, but it takes up so much room, I decided to just install only 3 of them for now. I also only have a few from Syntronik on there.
