Does Acid use a wrapper?
As long as it A) keeps my local drive directory structure, and B) remembers the last used settings for each plugin like it does with DirectX, I couldn't care less if it's wrapped or not.

Sure. I assumed you meant that they just incorparated an internal transparent wrapper. Can't imagine they would just launch a replacement for the other DX-VST wrappers unless it was integrated in to the main app. I'd guess most SF users already use one of the wrappers.
I've now moved to the setup where I wrap only the effect version of energyXT with the Cakewalk wrapper and access VSTs from inside eXT just to save the hassle of rescanning all my plugins, losing my file structure, and having to sort various incompatibilities.
Transparency would be very nice.

Doubt its gonna be a wrapper. I tried some dx-vst wrappers before, the wrapped plugs ended up not working in soundforge.

I have a lot of issues with the VST wrapper that Sony uses within Acid 5 especially where automation is concerned. Hopefully, the wrapper that they used for Sound Forge will be a bit more flexible and stable.

I would assume it would be the same technology used in Acid Pro 5. Adobe Audition similarly has an invisible wrapper, which works fine.
SF8 looks to me like a great update - better than the last one.

A better update,, Batch Processing ,, about time.
In Soundforge I would often use CONSOLE as a wrapper for my VST effects and I cannot remember much grief.

Here is the story:

BTW, I don't think acid 5.0 uses a wrapper. If it does, it's transparent. I've, so far, had no issues using vsts in 5.0.

i tried a wrapper demo once, i forget which one frankly, probably fxpansion, but i tried it for use in soundforge. suddenly, all of my vst plugs showed up in the directory for dx plugs in orion as well. and console.
i know there was probably a fix for this (doesn't tobybear have an app to unregister dx?) but you should have seen the size of my dx menu in orion, because i dl all the freebies i find and only 'clean the garage' about once a year.
i just installed acid pro 5 a couple of days ago and haven't really played with it yet. i hope when i get my paths set up i don't have a similar experience.
definitely looking fwd to soundforge vst support, tho. i actually use that program alot, it would be nice.
