Parallel to the Vekte Algorithmic sequencer Beta testing, here is now Tresse, a simple but powerful 39-engine, 8-voice polyphonic synthesizer.

* 39 engines — 24 Mutable Instruments Plaits-inspired engines (FM, wavetable, additive, granular, speech, chords, resonators, drums) plus 15 custom engines by Våld Labs: Karplus-Strong, bytebeat, formant, modal resonators, sympathetic strings, supersaw, drawbars, a multi-waveform FM engine and more.

* 8-voice polyphony with per-voice analog drift, portamento, mono-legato and 2/4/8-voice unison stacking.

* Dual ADSRs — independent amp and filter envelopes per voice.

* TPT SEM-style filter — continuous LP→BP→HP→Notch morph with a saturating feedback path, stable at any resonance, driven by a bipolar envelope.

* LFO — six shapes, sixteen destinations including quantized engine stepping. Free-running or host-tempo synced.

* Post-filter wavefolder and a single-knob stereo chorus at the end of the chain.

* Shareable presets — any patch compresses to a 40-character preset key you can paste into a forum post or hand to someone else.

Soon to be ported also to hardware (protoype ready).

It shares its UI framework and beta infrastructure with Vekte, our generative sequencer, and the two are built to work together.

This is a public desktop beta. VST3 only for now, Windows and macOS. An iOS version (standalone + AUv3) is in private alpha. Free during the beta.

Same ask as always: what breaks, which hosts misbehave, what's confusing, what sounds wrong.

There's a feedback form in the ☰ menu that goes straight to me.
Hope you all like it.

Looks pretty cool :tu:

Long delays switching between algorithms, stuck notes, voice modes (poly, mono, unison) seem to have no effect, and lots of latency.

could you please tell me in which OS/DAW? I haven't identified any of those issues tbh so I would really like to know what happened on your case.

Sounds like an interesting project and will try the beta, but all these same-looking website designs from the new developers give me AI vibes 🙈 Sorry guys

i was a developer back in the days and a product designer/brand design for the past 25 years - and i must say AI became an amazing tool to ship ideas quite fast. i love it, but still code. it's just a tool.

I have worked for over 10 years in media and deal every day with plugin companies (new product, updates...). When I see new plugin developers popping up almost daily and then look at their websites, I see the same design everywhere.

You can do that; it's the easiest and fastest way. I can understand. Unfortunately, it lacks individuality and creativity because they look generic to me.

That's a shame, because it's the virtual business card of a company. My two little pennies. I will still check out your creation :)

i'll definitely customize them at a later stage, but right now i'm focusing on the product, documentation and on the main brand website - these are only landing pages which will also be humanized. these are just betas still

and thanks!

Interested in the interplay with Vekte sequencer! Curious as the video shows one lane modulating "CC71 resonan" which still tweaks cutoff on Tresse. :) Does Tresse respond to some CC's by default (no mention in the manual)? Or are these first mapped in the automation parameters by the DAW?

Post

the full CC implementation will be done when the interface is 100% closed, at the end of the Beta (same for Vekte) - but for now it is possible within any DAW to map to internal parametres (for Ableton Live I have a cc mapper if necessary).

I like it :tu:

Thanks for letting me know, this DAW has not been tested, but go through it and try to pinpoint the issue.
