I’m sorry to hear that, but it’s a perfect example of why I don’t buy anything that doesn’t have a proper demo. I hope it gets resolved soon.

Thanks, yeah that's a good policy. I should have realized that earlier.zerocrossing wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 5:23 pm I’m sorry to hear that, but it’s a perfect example of why I don’t buy anything that doesn’t have a proper demo. I hope it gets resolved soon.

Not sure if anyone cares (I don't blame you if you don't) but I disputed the charge on my credit card for this plugin since I didn't receive the VST3 file and the dev has been MIA since they started this thread a week ago. Unless there was some family emergency or worse with the dev (hopefully not) that's a pretty shitty way to handle your first product launch. Oh well, back to other boring shit I am working on.

Damn bro, that's a great product right here. Thank you for what you doing for small home-indi fellas out there.
But I'm from Russia and I have no possibility to buy Roomtone Amp Sim - what can I do to buy your thing, is there any other ways to buy it?

Theres a new settings feature that lets you dive deep into the settings and easily create or adjust your own towns and submit them to the community website as well.pough wrote: Sat Jan 10, 2026 8:43 pm Are there controls that aren't shown in the previews? It looks like there is no way to choose the effects or amp sim.

This is actually incredibly innacurate, I've been heavily involved since launch of product with exception of family vacations. (Which even then I try to answer emails on if possible) I was working so hard during launch and still am making updates all the time.seangm wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 5:45 pm Not sure if anyone cares (I don't blame you if you don't) but I disputed the charge on my credit card for this plugin since I didn't receive the VST3 file and the dev has been MIA since they started this thread a week ago. All downloads have been fixed, as all it takes its someone to email me about the related bug, and I fix it within usually a few days to a week.
Sorry this was your experience. Hopefully you can see through it and continue enjoying the plugin and its latest updates! (featuring the new settings menu and guitar tones etc...)

All downloads and instructions have been streamlined and updated for better experience since launch.seangm wrote: Sun Jan 11, 2026 12:18 amI purchased but the installation is very confusing. I'm on Windows, the directions in the purchase email look like they have directory paths for Mac:Joshemve wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 5:07 am Hey KVR,
I'm a solo developer and just released Roomtone Amp Sim - an amp plugin focused on indie, bedroom pop, and shoegaze tones.
roomtone_amp_sim_animation_on_off_small.gif
What it does:
- 275 factory presets covering bedroom pop, shoegaze, 90s alt, post-punk, dream pop
- Presets inspired by The 1975, Slowdive, The Strokes, My Bloody Valentine, Mac DeMarco, Mk.gee and more
- Tube amp modeling with room character
- Built-in effects: chorus, reverb, tremolo, lo-fi, delay
- VST3/AU for Mac and Windows
I built this because I wanted an amp sim that nailed warm, chorused indie tones out of the box without needing a pedalboard of plugins.
Its Called Roomtone Amp Sim available on NorthernValleyAudio
Happy to answer any questions about the tones or the DSP. I also am open to hearing suggestions on what tones to add!
Cheers
Installation
Unzip the downloaded file
Copy Roomtone Amp Sim.vst3 to /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/
Copy Roomtone Amp Sim.component to /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/
Restart your DAW and scan for new plugins
I don't have a folder that looks like this on my Windows machine:
"/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/"
So where do I put the Amp.Sim components folder on a Windows machine?
Also, there is a folder with this name in the installation Zip. What do I do with that folder? There is nothing in the instructions about that folder:
"\Roomtone Amp Sim.app"
Thank you.
Best

As a single indie dev waiting 1 day and posting this seems a bit out of touch with reality. But nonethess I understand your feelings. Everything has since been resolved and the download is fixed!seangm wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 4:15 pmJust a heads up to anyone considering buying this plugin. I paid for it 4 days ago and received an email with a download link that was supposed to be for both AU and VST3 in one ZIP file. It turns out there's no VST3 file in the ZIP that you download (there is a VST3 folder but it doesn't contain a VST3 file). So basically I have no way to use VST3 and I'm on Windows so AU doesn't help.Joshemve wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 5:07 am Hey KVR,

I tried to contact the dev right away using his support email address as well as a PM here on KVR. Well.... no response as of today. So I guess buyer beware, I haven't seen hide nor hair of the dev since they created this thread last Wednesday. And they have a brand new KVR account which is somewhat Sus although it could be they just created it to advertise their product. Or they are scamming, can't tell which but I'm bummed I used my credit card to purchase this (no paypal option).
Anyway as I said buyer beware, so far I paid for the plugin and did not receive an actual VST3 file and no response at all from the dev.

I didn't wait 1 day, look at the post you quoted. I said I paid for it 4 days previously and did not receive an actual VST3 file and no response from you about the issue. Then it took months for you to actually reply to me and deliver a VST3 file. And you were nice as pie in your email that you finally sent to me but you're being all snarky here in public which I'm assuming is because you are trying to shift the blame to me.Joshemve wrote: Wed Jul 08, 2026 2:47 pmAs a single indie dev waiting 1 day and posting this seems a bit out of touch with reality. But I have the emails that show all the timings of your correspondence if anyone would like to see them I will gladly copy them here. You didn't reply back for several months to my email reporting that I did not receive the plugin that I paid for. That's just bad business friend so I would slow your roll a little bit with the snarkiness toward your customers when you are the one taking several months to deliver a product that someone paid for. The old "single indie dev" excuse only goes so far. When you are non-responsive for months that excuse goes out the window. Even a single person shop has time to send out a polite reply back saying they are working on it or some sh*t, you couldn't even do that. So later bud, I don't buy anything from sh*tty devs and you've made the list (congrats).

I just saw this ridiculous reply (which is to my post from 7 months ago, not exactly speedy with the replies are ya). I sent you an email reporting the missing VST3 issue as soon as I bought and downloaded the "plugin" in January. You did not reply to me for months. If you replied then please copy a screen shot of that reply here but I didn't receive anything and there was nothing in spam. If you're going to try to be an actual dev maybe work a little on responsiveness to your customers. Waiting months to respond and then chastising a customer who bought the plugin is not good business. Just my 2c.Joshemve wrote: Wed Jul 08, 2026 2:43 pmThis is actually incredibly innacurate, I've been heavily involved since launch of product with exception of family vacations. Youre missing it... I'm saying I constantly am replying to customers and handling everything best I can. I answer emails almost daily. Since launch. If I missed your email I apologize but that issue was handled a long time ago. Also, I dont keep up on KVR. Email support is where I reply.

Ok whatever bud, you didn't reply for months to my support email telling you the VST3 file was missing and the plugin was not useable after I paid for it. But somehow magically months later you found the email and replied. So yeah I'm "missing it", whatever done with your silly crap. Go blame some other sh*t on your customers so you can feel all righteous.Joshemve wrote: Wed Jul 08, 2026 5:17 pm Youre missing it... btw, KVR-ians please see the shining example of deflection and defensiveness above that you'll have the pleasure of dealing with if you try contact support for this "dev" (if you even get a reply at all).

That's fair, Sean, and I'll leave it here rather than keep going back and forth.
The launch download bug was real and it's long since fixed, working Windows installer, clean downloads, correct instructions. I answer support email personally, usually within a day or two. Your charge was refunded through the dispute so you're square, and if you ever want the current build it's yours on the house.
For anyone reading later: Roomtone is on v1.2.17 now with a deep-edit settings menu, community presets, and 467 factory tones, and I'm always reachable by email for support. Appreciate the honest feedback, it made the product better.

I was fine leaving it as it was, you're the one that replied to 3 of my months old posts today and got all snarky trying to pass the blame onto me. Maybe think before you post next time and dial back the defensiveness a hair.
