They went bust earlier this year. They said they didn't use an octree, although their Patent says otherwise!mystran wrote: Tue Jul 07, 2026 10:54 pmPerhaps you mean "unlimited detail"?antto wrote: Tue Jul 07, 2026 8:15 pm this reminds me of a (voxel?) renderer technical demo video on youtube (years ago) where it was claimed "infinite detail" is possible
it also reminds me of that dude here who claimed he knows how to compress data infinitely
If I'm not mistaken, that tech actually found a market for itself in point cloud visualization for engineering purposes, so it's not really completely ridiculous, though it obviously never made a huge impact in the gaming market (and these days Nanite can push so many polygons you basically have unlimited detail that way as well).
I looked into it 15 years ago, they appear to base it on old 80s tech by Donald Meagher for rasterising the point splats, but then their later landscape streaming stuff looked very different.
"Gaussian Splats" have taken over now of course, although they have their own issues.

quikquak, your company has been an inspiration. i have tried every plugin you've released and have purchased a handful.

You are probably doing exponential feedbacked frequency modulation of a sin. If so, try this, do linear feedbacked phase modulation. This is more or less equivalent to Yamaha's DX7 feedback FM (one OP feedback into it self), and it will give you a more well behaved kind of a saw shape without the chaotic wiggle.Architeuthis wrote: Wed Jul 08, 2026 6:03 pm i said i would give you proofs of concepts today, but i need a break from this. so here's just a random video that hints at possibilities. notice that you can see discontinuities as invisible lines, it will help me debug them in the future.
(for some reason out back into freq is not working, need to debug that)
Both will still alias, but, your probably thinking of controlling the mod depth to attack that. This would probably be the tough part to get it decent if you want to keep sawtooth shape/timbre unchanged when you pitch up or down. But if your willing to cut corners, then yeah.
it would sound like a saw, filtered with 6db-12db low pass.

i no longer have any questions, i also doubt you could actually explain anything, i mean, blackholes and free energy, what the fog does that have to do with DSP or aliasing?Architeuthis wrote:until you ask a question, i cannot give an answer. ask a question
also, many many years ago, when i was making my first steps into "audio DSP" and "coding", and when i knew absolutely zero of anything... i've said dumb things and wrong things on forums (including this one), later i may have figured that and wished i didn't say what i said, but i do not go and edit my posts... this is like changing history, it feels wrong/unfair
and this serves me as a lesson to be more careful what i write in the future
you're erasing your posts basically, that's not cool in my book, i hope you learn something from this whole experience, but i'm not sure how that'll work if you can't come back to these threads after say 2 years, or 8 years, and read what your old self has written.. because it's all bleached
i can try to give you a little perspective: there are some extremely clever people on this very sub-forum, there are in general some extremely clever people in the world, with deep knowlage and understanding in math and DSP and all kinds of other areas
and just like you, they have access to the same kind of chatbot you're probably using
how come no one of those people figured out how to "end all aliasing", but you did?
also, your chatbot has been "fed" with the material written by those same people, do you think it could possibly say something more clever than whatever those people wrote?
to be fair... when i started... i don't remember exactly the chronology but it must've been roughly around 2006 +/- 1 year... i had to learn my way thru things, i didn't know math, i didn't know C++, i only knew mIRC scripting.. i had HUGE ideas just like everyone else, just like you
unlike you, i couldn't put together something that looks so polished as whatever that is on your website, that would've been a gigantic mountain of code, covering multiple languages and not just math but also things in several different and very difficult areas of programming
however, if i was starting today, with the presence of "chatbot can write code for you" ... i'm afraid to admit that i would've probably fallen in that "trap" and would've never went thru the long years of learning my way the hard way
definately not me, that's one of my alternative nicknames (it's an IRC thing), and i have absolutely nothing to do with the demoscene, i do remember seeing some "demos" and was amazed by the combination of visuals and music in extremely small files

i will preserve this small chunk of history for the future you to come back and re-read, possibly, one day, hopefully100% soundemote DSP
i hate tone2 filters now
