This looks interesting, I’ve always got time for a 303. Especially one with some added interesting features such as this!

Hey folks,
fresh out of the oven: KA-303 v1.7.0 is here, and this time there is a whole new eighth sound mode in the box, plus a fix that some of you might have already heard without even realizing it.
The heart of this update is Angel Fish II (Mode 7). Basically the Angel Fish you know, but with every mod cranked to the max. Same controls, same preset compatibility, but the engine reads every value a lot more brutally:
Overdrive now goes up to roughly 41x gain with a biting wavefold character
Hi Reso and Resonance tip over into a tonal, singing screech
Filter FM opens the filter at audio rate for metallic screech plus brightness (up to around +1.3 octaves)
Accent barks noticeably harder
You will find it in the MODE menu right after Angel Fish. The panel turns orange and reads ANGEL FISH II MOD. The best way to hear the difference is to flip back and forth between Angel Fish and Angel Fish II at identical knob settings.
On top of that there are 8 new factory presets, each with an extra (modulated) variant, so the bank now sits at 174: Hellfire Bass, Volcanic Scream, Rabid Fish, Molten Lead, Inferno Squelch, Savage Stab, Napalm Groove and Apex Predator.
Under the hood: the very first note after loading used to have a slightly brighter attack than all the following ones. It affected every mode and was most obvious at low cutoff. It is now bit for bit identical with the rest.
Quick heads up, probably only relevant for a few of you: if you automate the MODE parameter on an automation lane, take a quick look. An old automation at 100 percent used to select Torpedo Ray, now it lands on Angel Fish II. Presets and normal sessions are not affected and load exactly as before.
For existing customers this update is free. Just grab it from your account:

For everyone else, here is the demo download:

Curious what you think. Mainly: does Angel Fish II sound more savage than Angel Fish in a direct A/B for you, without turning unusable? Which of the 8 new presets is your favorite, and are there any duds in there? And do your old 1.6.x projects load cleanly and unchanged on your end?
Any feedback helps, short and sweet is fine too.
Rock on!
Frank
