Isn't it an established fact that WaveAlchemy's TapeWave is the best of the bestest of the betterest for this sort of thing?

IKs is the easiest.

Illangelo used WaveFactory Cassette on TheWeeknd's stuff if you like that sound.

Klevgrand has a tape plugin: https://klevgrand.com/products/dawcassette .

Wavealchemy has one too. They make some great drum samples, so it might be good for what you want. Check their drum brake example at the bottom: https://www.wavealchemy.co.uk/product/tapewave/

Keep in mind that the tape speed of Portastudio's is double of normal cassette decks, so not all cassette plugins will give you the same sound.

Be aware this is another plugin that offers to put a license on your iLok which is not a proper iLok license

It was a box that was already populated. I pressed continue but I dint see anything about iLok. Perhaps I should scrutinise a bit more but what difference does it make anyway? Honest question.

It's the same copy protection as Lunatic Audio Narcotic - I got the option to put the license on my iLok for that too and I assumed it was just the usual sort of iLok authorisation but after it had placed a license on my physical iLok I went into iLok manager and it wasn't there. Turns out it adds a license to the physical iLok memory but not via the license manager, which I am not happy about given I have so much on that dongle I don't want third party apps placing stuff on it I can't even see or remove and for all I know which could damage it. Only the iLok manager should be able to place licenses on my iLok.

Any VSTs emulating the sound of TEAC Portastudio 424?
