I use a number of Intel NUCs at work (in charge of IT for a 120 person org), thing is I believe most/all Windows NUCs use laptop RAM/CPUs and pretty much all the Windows laptops I've handled by multiple makers (probably 1000+ at this point) have external PSUs. To me NUCs fill the critical "I need something to take up less space than a lap/desk-top and don't want/need/can't afford a 'real" server" niche and I always stick them on a rack shelf so the external PSU isn't a biggie to me in the same way it is for, say electronic keyboards or instrument amplifiers.keys_au1 wrote: Fri Jun 26, 2026 7:33 pmthanks - yes my research has led to the same conclusion. I do wonder why though. Surely Apple tech is not THAT secret that PC makers cannot emulate an on-board power supply?audiojunkie wrote: Fri Jun 26, 2026 6:38 pm Mine requires an external power supply. I'm not aware of any NUC model that doesn't use an external power supply.
A NUC mini PC with internal power supply - does one exist?
