So, it's a bit late, but I had the same idea. I love the Eaganmatrix, but the current options aren't the best, the EMM is just the regular 2x DSP while the Osmose has 6x for better polyphony. So, after finding a cheap enough Osmose (still over a grand), I built this Osmose box with the help of my first ever foray into CAD.

My initial idea was to bypass the sensor boards, but I wound up being too lazy to count out traces, EE were adverse to sharing any of their special sauce so ID'ing the hall effects would've been a PITA, and I couldn't find a decent source for the 0.2mm pitch cables they were using anyway, so I went for the far more low tech approach of just migrating them into the box and sticking magnets next to them. Seems to work well enough so far. The box is ~250x180x70mm, which makes it almost the same width, a nice 6cm smaller vertically, and a bit taller, although not as tall as the keybed. As for "why", I like the Osmose, I just don't have the room for it, and a compact little Eaganmatrix box makes more sense when I'm only using it with Linnstrument anyway.
