The latest version here shows 0.1 alpha here, what is the version number with the fixes please?id3at wrote: Fri Jul 10, 2026 9:27 pm Did you download the latest version? On Linux, and in Reaper, in Bitwig and Omni DAW, it plays normally without any problems. However, on Windows, I haven't checked it on Reaper, but on FL it worked fine, so I have to check it tomorrow because I don't have a Windows computer here.

This is still version 0.1 alpha, so there are bound to be plenty of bugs left. If we can catch about 70% of them (the easier ones) by the end of the competition, we will move into the beta phase. At this stage, I’m not changing the version numbers (e.g., from 0.1 to 0.11), but if you prefer, I can start adding them. Just keep in mind that whatever you download is always the latest available build.
Fixed Bugs:
A single, unified modulation target list for LFO, Mod Env, per-step lanes ("+ Add"), and the automation window. All four menus now share the exact same list with standardized naming. Every target available in the menu successfully modulates the sound and animates the parameter ring on the knob.
I also highly encourage you to try out Artchemy. In the top-right panel, the "Show" tab gives you direct access to Artchemy's brushes and options right from Tomic. Clicking "Open" launches the drawing software. Using Tomic, you can control the brush movements and generate captivating, real-time animations driven by the audio from individual channels.

Ok I am not at home now, but if 0.1 alpha is the latest version, Tomic becomes unusable in Reaper 7. I created a preset with sequences and when i play it in Reaper the transport stops at random places...i can always restart it but it happens very often. Is that the bug which happened in FL? It is not fixed in Reaper yet. If it helps i can send my project file.

Don't rely on version 0.1, but rather on which 0.1 build you're working on? This is the name of the latest build: tomicdrumsynth___windows.zip
. Let me know if you're actually having problems with the latest build

What happened in FL was that it stopped as soon as the DAW restarts its loop for the first time.
This has been fixed for me, but maybe I can give some more info to help.
In FL there's an audio option called "align tick lengths" - it aligns every buffer that is sent to plugins with the tick length resolution of FL.
Now it doesn't stop, with or without "align tick lengths," but when "align tick lengths" is activated, TOMiC sometimes skips the first step of the sequence and gets out of sync.
With "align tick lengths" off, everything runs and loops perfect.
I only use the "align tick lengths" option as a workaround for 1 plugin (VPS Avenger), which skips note messages when it is off, but normally almost no one should need that option and it's generally recommended to leave it off for lowest latency and highest resolution.
It also happened in renoise, which I tried to check it out, and now in renoise it loops, but often skips a step when the renoise loop restarts - so same behaviour as with "tick lengths aligned" in FL, so I assume renoise quantizes buffers to tick length by default (?) - last time I googled it said most DAWs don't do it...
Don't know if this helps... without "align tick lengths" everything runs perfect now for me

I also got some more ideas for small improvements if you like:
Would it be possible to add a pre-delay knob to the reverbs?
I don't like the fixed pre-delay, since it can mess up the rhythm and think I would prefer a pre-delay of close to 0 for the reverb tail most of the time - apart from that the reverb options are pretty cool.
I'd also like to see the range of the EQ mid band go down all the way to 30Hz or so instead of only above 200Hz - it can be very good for kicks to take out a small band around 160Hz, or to selectively boost 80 or even 50 Hz... apart from that EQ is cool, too.
And while we're at it...
maybe a knob for Phaser position would be a nice addition... now the phaser always moves around the same position - don't know if this is possible to just add, but manually modulating the position could be cool, too.
Modulations are working very nice now, by the way, and it's very nice to be able to also for example modulate sample pitch with envelopes now.

Using the latest version of TOMiC but I got it fixed, the problem was on my end. So seems to be working on windows tooid3at wrote: Fri Jul 10, 2026 9:27 pm Did you download the latest version? Time to try out Artchemy!
You are not by coincidence the maker of the Reaktor ensembes tonicA and tonic-mk2 (clone tonic) ?

Some more things about FX section:
- I think the transient shaper isn't working. And the compressor could use a make-up-gain knob to compensate for volume loss.
I also think the transient shaper should probably go after the compression so they can work together. (if it doesn't already)
- Ringmod Stereo isn't working
- Spectral Blur knob seems to be doing nothing
And with that I think I checked out everything in the FX section... apart from those things I noticed I'm very happy with the FX. And the spectral gate is a very nice unusal addition - very cool.

Oh wow that was quick! Seems all to be working fine now here. And that new drag and drop modulation is looking amazing!
some small things:
- the Click from the Dynamics section doesn't react to the sequencer's VOL track
- the curve part of the EQ display graphic is still stopping at 200HZ - but EQ is working
And if you want I can even keep some more suggestions coming:
Now that you got that drag and drop feature, that would be super cool if that could be extended to the sequencer (maybe you're already planning that.)
You could make it so that you just add a new empty modulation lane, which can be connected to anything via drag and drop - allowing for multiple modulation targets with one sequencer track.
And then it would be a cool feature for playing with external MIDI controller to have velocity as a modulation source. Maybe you could add a port for velocity to the modulation sources, next to LFOs and ADSRs.
And then to further streamline the sequencer, the TRIG and VOL tracks could be consolidated into one - TRIG with velocity. And that track could share the connections with the new velocity tab of the modulation sources and now work the same as external MIDI triggers with velocity. By default, velocity would just be connected to the level.
If you want to do that, the most user friendly way would be to have one hardwired connection with a special range for velocity intensity, instead of the standard bipolar modulation, for the volume level - 0 intensity means everything stays full level, 50% velocity sensitivity means 50% volume at 0 velocity, 100% sensitivity mean 0 volume (or -60db or whatever) at 0 velocity. - So that you can change velocity sensitivity without having to adjust the level back and forth.
All other modulations via velocity of course should have the regular bipolar range.
