Because they're trying to win the KVRDC, silly.I'm not sure why you're giving this away for free.

I had a play around with this on Linux. Very cool. Then I grabbed the Mac version and it requires macOS 13, which is exactly one version higher than I can run. Is there any way to get the Mac system requirements a bit lower?
It's not the first plugin I've encountered lately that requires Ventura so I'm guessing it's something that changed recently.

To be honest about the MacOS 13, we'd love to make our products available for every OS imaginable but we simply can't test it thoroughly, and we do not want to present a product that is potentially not working properly. The amount of people still using MacOS 12 or earlier is very low, and we don't want to risk it.
If there is anything else on your mind, feel free to let us know! We're always happy to think about our product(s) together with our users.

No worries. Thanks for the reply. It's an old system alright and Monterey is as far as it can go, so I'm expecting less and less plugins to work as time goes on.
For now there's still plenty that do, and when it eventually runs out of road I'll jump to Linux.

i’m really enjoying this one. it’s a really clever implementation of multiband processing that I personally haven’t seen before, and the whole thing is incredibly intuitive. and i’m liking how good some of the effects sound with minimal effort, particularly the disperser
there are maybe 2 very minor issues i had that might be worth considering for future updates-
first, the horizontal nature some of the adjustments can be a little unexpected. my first time using it, i was dragging up on something and thought i found a bug as i watched the values bounce all over the place. granted it didn’t take long to realize what was happening, but for me even when a slider is horizontal on the gui, it feels more natural for vertical dragging to be the adjustment. or maybe natural isn’t the right word, but i think vertical is the expectation regardless of graphical alignment based on the overwhelming majority of software out there. for a large slider like overall mix it’s less an issue than with some of the smaller ones, but either way i think people associate dragging up with “increase value” rather than associating that motion with the actual physical alignment of the slider. sort of like plugins with knobs just require click and vertical drag rather than dragging in a circle around the physical knob.
the other is the bitcrusher. i haven’t had a ton of time with it to really determine the issue, and im not even sure if its implemented in the plugin as i havent read the manual, but i got the impression just from my initial messing around that its only bitcrushing and no sample rate reduction? if thats the case, i think it might be worth combining the two, i think most people sort of expect that anyway when they think bitcrusher. whatever the reason, in many cases i wasn’t getting what i hoped for out of the effect and they were cases where the audio/frequency range imo would have been a good fit. again, this is a minor issue and maybe im the only one, but id like to see it either with sample rate or if thats not the cause of my issue, perhaps it’s just a matter of being able to push it harder than it’s currently allowing.
regardless it’s my #1 so far, so great work and thanks for making it free

Thank you so much for the kind words and taking the time to try it out thoroughly. We're superexcited so hear you enjoy using PARROT so much, and hope you'll get to do really cool stuff with it!
That said, we actually love the idea of adding a sample rate reduction effect to the effect menu as a seperate character option. Great input! We put it on the list for our future updates.
Again, thank you so much for your nice words and the time you took to write your findings about using PARROT. If you have further questions or suggestions, don't hestitate to ask or let us know!
Thank you for pointing your confusion out! We are already working on a new build as we speak, where we will improve some things like the sliders. It is a bit of a hassle, since it is quite specific to which user expects what, but we're definitely working on improving the overall experience of the sliders. This will probably be a release for a later time, after the challenge.yhvh wrote: Wed Jul 15, 2026 4:05 am the horizontal nature some of the adjustments can be a little unexpected.
Thank you for this observation. A bitcrusher is a bitcrusher, which reduces the number of bits in a signal (think y axis of the waveform). This is different than a sample rate reduction, which does time modification (think x axis of the waveform). It is more of a coincidence that old digital devices had both low sample rate and low bit rate, but those effects are purely independent. This makes our choices here on the bitcrusher effect intentional.yhvh wrote: Wed Jul 15, 2026 4:05 amthe other is the bitcrusher. i haven’t had a ton of time with it to really determine the issue, and im not even sure if its implemented in the plugin as i havent read the manual, but i got the impression just from my initial messing around that its only bitcrushing and no sample rate reduction?

For some reason, I cannot send private messages.
Here is my answer to your question about my review: Ableton 12.4 crashes completely.

Thank you so much for reaching out! That is incredibly odd, and we are confused why it is happening to you since we are not familiar with any kind of those problems on Ableton 12.4.DJ Felicius wrote: Wed Jul 15, 2026 2:23 pm For some reason, I cannot send private messages.

Can you tell us some more about your setup: Windows version, GPU (graphics card) specs and CPU?
Thank you in advance!
