* or maybe better just make the VOL lane to velocity lane instead of consolidating it with TRIG - probably simpler, better and more consistent with the current sequencer structure... so if you want to implement velocity as modulation source it could just be connected to the VOL track.

Consolidating them probably isn't a good idea anyway now that I thought more about it - sorry about that one. :)

Post

So to put it short and less confusing my suggestions just would be:

- drag and drop modulation for sequencer mod tracks
- MIDI velocity as a modulation source (next to LFOs etc.), connected to VOL track (and ideally with a dedicated velocity sensitivity control for volume)

Post

oh and before I forget again, speaking of the sequencer:

- the big buttons in TRIG track don't work
- right click for reset doesn't work for VOL PAN PITCH and PROB - for NUDGE GATE and MUT it works, but right click + drag doesn't work
- there's this little white spacebar thing that pops up below the sequencer steps, sometimes making it hard to hit 0 value on the sequencer - maybe you could get rid of that.

Thanks, maze 6000, that's really helpful! Recently, I had some inspiration and a few new ideas, but I went a bit too far with the changes and had to create a new branch in Tomic โ€“ that's what I'm tinkering with right now.

If you want, I can send you the latest build, but it's best if you report bugs for this version via email. The contest version is quite playable and doesn't get boring for a long time (at least in my opinion), but I'm moving forward with Tomic now, without the contest constraints.

Sadly the print is so small and so faint the plugin is unusable to me. I saw the video by Xantus, so I managed to get random kick and snare working. I tried it in Ableton Live 10 and 12 and when the GUI is open it sabotages the navigation of Ableton (i could not enter MIDI-notes anymore, I could not set a MIDI-channel etc. Parts of default Ableton layout had disappeared). I can only get it to work when I set up the tracks, including the MIDI-notes and only then open the plugin. CPU-usage is instantly 14% which generally makes plugin problematically slowing the DAW down, cause glitches etc. when you have other instruments in/or other tracks.

hmm, on the left you can choose the size. 80/100/125/150.Give me the link to the video :)

Post

Oh ok, it doesn't really need more features that I can think of right now anyway, i guess - velocity is just a thought for making it more useful for external MIDI, but the internal sequencer seems pretty much perfect.

Wondering what you will come up with for future versions.

'On the left' stays hard to find ;-). Compare print with Ableton print. Edit: OK, found it. Readable now, but GUI larger than my monitor (22").Image

This plugin is a gem ๐Ÿ‘

Sounds great indeed. But I find the UI highly confusing. I am completely lost with what to do where. The logical flow of the tools could be improved.

maybe make a video, a short workflow? :) for me everything is quite obvious. :)

I think a change to the order of things in the GUI could make a big difference to make the signal flow much more obvious:

Take the left section (MIX/FX etc.) and put it to the right of Oscillator and Noise sections.
Then also change the order inside that section: Main Mix and Output on top, Filter in the Middle, FX on the bottom.
Now you have a clear order of things from top left to bottom right: Oscillator, Noise, Mix, Filter, FX

And to smoothe it out a little bit more, Attack and Decay of the Noise could be on top of the noise section, like on the oscillator, so you get a clear top row of things.

And finally the pitch mod section of the oscillator could go above the optional oscillator mode control boxes and get a little bigger knobs - so that this important part of oscillators is more central and obvious.

With that and consistent knob sizes and spacings, the GUI should be pretty much perfect I think.
Definitely not a bad GUI, just a bit confusing at first to find all controls with the overall structure not being immediately obvious. The graphics and colors are very nice!
