The general attack new devs receive here is a bit unnecessary.

On the other hand, it's a kind of 'hardener'; how the devs respond to the attacks will expose the attitude of the dev. If they cannot deal with the difficult customers, maybe they aren't ready to face them.

Luckily most have been hardened by other interactions on the bloody massive internet and in their real-world community. A few buckle and prove to themselves they probably shouldn't be interacting with potential consumers, and either back off (wise move) or just continue and accept the risk.

Customers are (mostly) a bit dumb and only think about the thing they want to buy; I mean, who goes to a market and asks the fruit sellers about the journey of the harvest. Probably no one. You just want the tasty fruit. Software customers mostly do not have any idea about how the dev's situation is setup and how much of their life is wrapped up in the plugins we salivate over. And that won't change; customers will always be some level of stupid.

To see the dev here not get triggered by the intentionally-triggering statements is a relief. Customers will say stupid stuff, because they think it makes them sound smart. It takes a lot of internal peace to not be involved, so kudos to Morphoice for just getting on with the job :)

If I had the time to beta-test I would, just a bit jam-packed at the moment.

I’m just looking for accurate information, because the information initially provided by the dev created some false impressions.

My questions were neither ‘resentful’ nor “throwing shade” but the developer chose to take them that way and give hostile replies to legitimate questions. Yes, the defensive way the dev has interacted with me and others has dampened my interest in donating. But it didn’t start out that way, and it didn’t need to go that way.

The way he presents it on his webpage gives the distinct impression that the current version will stop working when a new version is released, and that new version may not be free anymore. The subtext of that seems to be “so you better pay $10 now so you don’t miss out in the future.”

So I took that at face value and wanted to know by what mechanism the software would stop working when a new version came out. Again, this is a valid question that many people would want an answer to when deciding whether or not to install something on their computer, especially if they may be forced to pay in the future.

I have plenty of software installed that does phone home and check for a valid license. I have no problem with that. But these developers are upfront about it. And this is the first case I’ve seen where a developer implied their software did when it actually didn’t.

No that’s not what you’re doing.

What you’re doing is repeatedly harassing the dev on all of his product posts, and then when you’re called out on it, stating the same shit that’s already been answered.

You’re obsessing over it, and trying to get others involved to harass the dev too. I despise internet bullying, and have witnessed its effects first hand.

Have you demo’d any of the products, are you actually interested in any of the devs products?

I was going to, but I wanted clarification on what the plugin was doing first, because I don’t want to use a plugin that may end up holding my songs hostage later.

I finally got a satisfactory answer from the dev, but in the process, he displayed a disturbing level of hubris and contempt towards me and others, which has created new concerns about using his plugins. Again, my concern now is that I could become dependent on a plugin that suddenly becomes unavailable due to the volatile emotions of the developer.

I have particular interest in the JX-8P, as you may have noted from my posting history, so of course it is something that I seriously considered, and was really looking for reassurance so I could try it.

So, not that it actually concerns you, but I have so far not installed it. My experiences in this thread—both with the developer and you—have only complicated that choice more.
