What do you think: Which DAW will the safest to resist all of this AI nonsense creeping slowly in?

It is somewhat inevitable.
I'd think maybe a slower developed DAW.
I used to think Reason but with LANDR owning it, maybe not.
I think any DAW will allow you to decide whether you want to use AI or not.
I think there are fine lines as well. Something that is creating melodies/harmonies/drums/entire compositions for you is one thing.
Something helping organize your sample library or creating tutorials on using program is another thing.

Something that responds to *all* actions with verbal communication so mouse and QWERTY is optional.jlgrimes11 wrote: Wed Jul 15, 2026 3:49 pm Something helping organize your sample library or creating tutorials on using program is another thing.
-open songs folder

-add audio track and set to 1 input
-arm
-go to position 00:01:14
-1 bar count in and record
-save
-play recorded clip, solo
*Or* solo track, play recorded clip
-add *plugin name* effect
Etc etc....
A.I. is a wonderful thing if you just let it in. It's not a vampire for chrissake.

A lot of these debates could be avoided by being more specific about the use of the term "generative AI".

From my initial post:

I am not willing anymore to support any BS developement of any AI generative nonsense creeping into DAWs more and more and am looking for a safe place for a human wanting to create music the "human way"...

That's voice recognition, I think we talk about AI generating music like serving pizzas ordered.VOODOO U wrote: Wed Jul 15, 2026 4:13 pmSomething that responds to *all* actions with verbal communication so mouse and QWERTY is optional.jlgrimes11 wrote: Wed Jul 15, 2026 3:49 pm Something helping organize your sample library or creating tutorials on using program is another thing.

I don't see what any of that has to do with vampires.ksandvik wrote: Thu Jul 16, 2026 8:41 amThat's voice recognition, I think we talk about AI generating music like serving pizzas ordered.VOODOO U wrote: Wed Jul 15, 2026 4:13 pmSomething that responds to *all* actions with verbal communication so mouse and QWERTY is optional.jlgrimes11 wrote: Wed Jul 15, 2026 3:49 pm Something helping organize your sample library or creating tutorials on using program is another thing.

Renoise, and probably Reaper. The super popular DAWs will no doubt hop on the AI hype train.

Yes. In a few years everyone here will wonder how they ever got along without it. I swear I can't recall the last time I saw such limited vision from a group that labels themselves as creative. My argument for Reaper avoiding it is more about the status of being self-contained and almost anti-business/anti-online always. I find it unlikely that Cockos will attach features to models not available locally. However, as hardware changes, you can expect AI to find its way into the smallest of applications. Any kind of contextual search may want to infer intent from your words and then predict the most likely "thing" that you want. Do you want the thing that you came close to spelling, or, something related that you forgot the name of? This will creep in when small models become a standard feature in the distro, and they will.
What we are watching, in real time, is audio production becoming ham radio.

That's definitely imminent. They may avoid using it to replace instrument playing but they'll use it for other things. At this point anyone making anti - A.I. threads are just flattering themselves. It's redundant and stupid.ghettosynth wrote: Fri Jul 17, 2026 5:39 pm Yes. In a few years everyone here will wonder how they ever got along without it.

Ableton is still owned in par by its founders, and I think that if they go for the vision stated in this video Ableton would be one of the safest DAW companies to be invested as a user.
