lol. king of what? anwyays kudos to them for trudging thru the muck and making 64bit builds when microsoft doesnt even have up free 64bit DevTools up for DL and their 64bit XP is a bug ridden piece of crap.
anyone done any tests to see if the additional general-purpose registers make it faster?
anyways, i dont know how they can claim "SONAR x64 is the first truly native 64-bit host DAW application" when ive had ardour on my debian-amd64 box since last summer...

Isn't Logic 7 64 bit? OSX is isn't it? Or do they mean PC?carmen wrote:lol. king of what? anwyays kudos to them for trudging thru the muck and making 64bit builds when microsoft doesnt even have up free 64bit DevTools up for DL and their 64bit XP is a bug ridden piece of crap.

No it isn't. Sonar is the first (at least of the major hosts) native 64 bit application. Just because it can run under a 64-bt OS, doesn't mean it is native 64 bit. This is native 64 bit!aMUSEd wrote:Isn't Logic 7 64 bit? OSX is isn't it? I don't know what ardour is but is it native 64 bit or does it just run under a 64 bit OS?carmen wrote:lol. king of what? anwyays kudos to them for trudging thru the muck and making 64bit builds when microsoft doesnt even have up free 64bit DevTools up for DL and their 64bit XP is a bug ridden piece of crap.

The .NET 2005 public betas support x64. You can download them here:carmen wrote:lol. king of what? anwyays kudos to them for trudging thru the muck and making 64bit builds when microsoft doesnt even have up free 64bit DevTools up for DL and their 64bit XP is a bug ridden piece of crap.

You can build on XP x64 or plain old XP.
Yes. Most files I've test have the 64-bit version running 20-30% faster. The "worst" performing one (one test file + driver + system combination) ran the same as 32-bit.anyone done any tests to see if the additional general-purpose registers make it faster?
This is the real thing.
Running on AMD-64 CPU doesn't make it native 64-bit. These newer 64-bit CPUs are x86 compatible. The whole OS and app has to be native x64 to get the maximum benefit.anyways, i dont know how they can claim "SONAR x64 is the first truly native 64-bit host DAW application" when ive had ardour on my debian-amd64 box since last summer...

theres the kicker..The SONAR x64 application, along with its included effects and synths, will no longer launch after August 31st, 2005.
"hey lets give them a free taste of the wares for awhile.. they'll come back for more after their supply runs out"

Got this from Ron's post in CW forum:
Individual plugins must be recompiled for x64 by their specific vendor. SONAR x64 includes the Sonitus suite, plus TTS-1, nPulse, Velocity, PSYN and sfz+.
