I meant something more along the lines that in the context of a mix the nuances of this or that filter often end up being insignificant, and so if one has a few analog emulations plus Diva, Dune etc., the range of OSC and filters covers most bases... probably. Except GAS seeks out extra novelty wherever it can be found. Proxima has somewhat idiosyncratic filter behaviour, though if I remember rightly Dune has the same filter type, and might be coaxed into sounding similar. I'm just wondering whether those who latched onto something that seemed unique in this synth continued to find it useful over time.

I like it a lot and I also like that it has a bigger range than the Hardware in the filter and it is a synth layout that i am familiar with

Yeah. It has a ton of overlap with stuff I already had/have, too, so it was definitely a luxury purchase for me.

I often choose it instead of Diva or GForce OB-1. Those 3 are my favorite "stay somewhat constrained, and lots of vibe" analog synths. Fun to drive it hard. It's a very-well behaved plugin, like the other Synapse Audio stuff. (I don't like the online activation requirement, but Synapse is one of the few plugin companies I let myself tolerate it from, reluctantly.)

Proxima saturates hard, and it sounds like a part of the sound. I personally don’t get that effect from Dune but it could be a skill issue.

One can get Dune to scream by adding in the filter saturation effects, as well as using the gain. The former working well on mid and lower frequencies, but aliasing on higher frequencies. It's been communicated that they dumbed down the analog modeled filters in Dune so they could work in the context of all the extra voices and modulation that Dune offers, so it would stand to reason that you can't get the same sound from Dune, even if it's using a similar filter model.

We go through this ritual a lot when someone releases an analog emulation. There's a contingent of people who will declare it unnecessary because of Dune, or similar. Of course, there is some overlap, but if you actually care about the character of a vintage analog, Dune isn't really going to cut it, regardless of how good its analog emulated filters are. I just think a lot of people don't really care about the character of a vintage synth, which is fine, but it's silly to make blanket statements, like, "Proxima is unnecessary if you have Dune." Maybe try, "Proxima is unnecessary for me, because I have Dune." I have both Proxima and Dune, and I find them to be excellent for different tasks.

How is the sound compared to Behringer Pro-800 besides it being digital?

I can only compare with a real Prophet 600. To me, Proxima sounds like an improved version of the real thing. Less buzzy, more stable, bigger bass. Anyone who ever said a gligli-modded 600 sounds better than a Prophet-5 was coping, it’s a below average synth, IMO.

I've tried the demo for this a few times but never really clicked with it. It's good for bass sounds but Invader 2 lets you set the oscillator phase for that more easily with a simple slider compared to Proxima. Plus Invader 2 has a sub osc. I think I just don't like the filter, plus the overall sound is nothing special IMO.
