When it comes to replicating certain behaviors of analog circuitry that DIVA emulates which is the original question of the OP, Retrologue doesn't even attempt to do so there is 0% authenticity. You can argue all day if any plugin would ever be good enough for the hardware purists and they would say no. That's not the question asked. Assume that DIVA is even 25% there (it's significantly higher than that) since Retrologue is 0% there DIVA would be the clear winner if AUTHENTICITY to specific Synths and behaviors of them is your goal and you are using plugins

When someone asks about AUTHENTICITY that is definable because you would have to have something to compare it to that you view as authentic. In this case it would be analog synths. Repro is an authentic virtual Prophet 5, however it totally lacks authenticity if you are trying to make Minimoog sounds.

Now if AUTHENTICITY isn't the goal and you just want generic VA sounds then Retrologue is perfect for that. It was designed to be a generic VA that is light on CPU so you could easily run multiple instances of it in Cubase. Stenberg gives it away as a stock plugin with Cubase
Unfortunately, you did NOT provide what I asked. I was asking for specific patches so that I could try to match and compare.

And again, you are not really addressing analog authenticity, but Minimoog authenticity.
I explicitly detailed how to test the Korg MS-20 filter, Roland Jupiter voice cards, and Oberheim SEM modules. Pretending this is just about "Minimoog authenticity" is a pathetic attempt to rewrite the thread because your argument got completely demolished.
As for your whining about specific patch names: if you actually knew how to program a synthesizer instead of blindly scrolling through factory presets, you wouldn't need to be spoon-fed. I gave you the exact blueprint. Init a patch, swap the modules to the MS-20 or Jupiter circuits, and turn the knobs I described. The fact that you can't even dial in a basic initialized patch to test these component behaviors yourself proves you don't understand the first thing about sound design.

In TAL's latest emulation of the Roland JX-8P there is a switch in the filter section:

They sound rather different from each other. So, which one is more analog?
One of them sounds much more similar to Retrologue's than the other, actually.
Let's clear up your confusion about TAL's "Modern" switch. It isn't bypassing emulation; it is changing the simulated hardware physics. It models what happens when you modify a physical analog circuit to run hotter, gain-stage it aggressively, and alter the resonance feedback loop. It is still a non-linear, component-level simulation of physical components under stress, dripping with harmonic distortion and analog saturation.

Retrologue does not do any of that. It runs a mathematically perfect, linear digital algorithm. It doesn't dynamically react to input gain or model circuit saturation; it just passes numbers through a fixed textbook equation. Just because TAL's modern mode retains bass and self-oscillates harder doesn't mean it suddenly sounds like Retrologue's lifeless digital code—it just means you lack the ears to hear the complex harmonic distortion happening under the hood in both of TAL’s modes.

To answer your question: both of TAL's modes are infinitely more analog because they both model the behavior of physical components. Retrologue models a spreadsheet.

Give it up. There are demos of both, and if you can’t make up your mind about it, then you’re incapable of telling the difference anyway.

Sylenth1's filter might be loosely modelled on the Minimoog's filter (it has that volume drop when you turn up the resonance), although it doesn't really sound much like it, especially on high resonance level. The rest of the synth, I don't know. Wasn't it rather planned as some kind of "Synth1 on steroids"? I know that the name is a homage to Synth1.

Anyway, I just mentioned it, because it's pretty close to Retrologue, architecture wise, and, for the reason that it's a pretty old softsynth now, and still in my eyes sounds better than Retrologue.

We don’t need the source code because the developers literally advertise what they built, and unlike you, anyone with an oscilloscope and a spectrum analyzer can look at the audio output and see the underlying math. Steinberg explicitly markets Retrologue as a modern subtractive workhorse; LennarDigital proudly built Sylenth1 as a highly optimized, code-efficient virtual analog synth. Neither has ever claimed to model component-level hardware circuits because they didn't. You don't need a NDA with Steinberg to see that their filters execute linear digital equations instead of non-linear circuit simulations.

Let’s just throw out decades of electrical engineering, circuit design, and acoustic science because you prefer to define "analog" by your subjective feelings. Retrologue 2 can sound very good, although I'm not fond of a lot of the presets. It can modulate the osc waveform, which I don't think is common, leading to some rich tones. Is it "authentic"? Dunno.

Imagine thinking a 2006 digital plugin is architecturally similar to a 1970s Minimoog just because it has a dropdown menu option labeled "TriSaw." That is a spectacularly superficial understanding of sound design. Those are static digital lookup tables coded for CPU efficiency—they don't drift, saturate, or dynamically interact with the filter like actual analog hardware.

They are not modeled to be anything like a Minimoog oscillator whatsoever

As for the filter the Minimoog is built entirely around a legendary, four-pole transistor ladder circuit. It is fixed as a monophonic, single Lowpass filter focused on maximum "creaminess," fatness, and low-end authority.

Sylenth1 has nothing in common with that at all. Rather than a single master filter, the synth splits its architecture across two layers (Part A and Part B), giving you two independent filter modules plus a global controller.

Each of the two filters can be set to three primary modes, with selectable roll-off slopes. It can be selected for Lowpass, Highpass, or Bandpass and either 12dB/octave or 24dB/octave slopes.

Sylenth’s filter, is also a famously clean, linear digital design built for high-voice trance plucks, not a non-linear Moog transistor ladder. It completely lacks the interactive feedback loop and low-end resonance drop of the hardware that the Minimoog has. That's why they added an optional drive control that isn't on the Minimoog that uses an additional digital algorithm to add distortion and saturation. This however is not modeled at all from the Minimoog and doesn't sound like a Ladder Filter in anyway

As for Retrologue, it's 1 of only 2 things I never download with new Cubase versions, the other being their Verve piano thing as I have no need of a realistic piano. Retrologue is OK and I consider it a freebie that comes with Cubase. If I had to pay directly for it, I wouldn't.
Its filter has no character as such, though obvs it does the vanilla VA thing. It has most of the features you'd want on a VA but nothing unique that makes it stand out. It's perfectly usable though. Is it one of the more analogue-sounding plugins? - a long way from it. If I absolutely had to use it, then I could as it's not as thin as many other plugins.

Anyway, enjoy your argument with Ivybirds for the next 6 months. You'll both go round in circles and end up exactly where you both started at. :tu:
