The other problem with NI is they grossly mismanaged their resources, over-hired, and expanded the company well beyond what their product catalog could support. And that’s why they found themselves in so much debt.

That's amazing news to me. I was worried Reaktor got abandoned, but it looks like a new version will be coming soon.chk071 wrote: Mon Jul 20, 2026 3:02 pm By the way: https://community.native-instruments.co ... ent_265884
In fact, Super*Saw is the first product built with a new platform update to Reaktor, that will eventually open to all builders. It empowers Reaktor builders to create discrete, standalone plug-ins running the Reaktor engine under the hood, with high resolution user interfaces, dedicated authorization, distribution and installation mechanisms.
Here's a bit of positivity.chk071 wrote: Mon Jul 20, 2026 4:02 pm I kind of missed the positive, optimistic attitude around here.![]()

Why should I take a look at old Reaktor instruments developed under the old system? I am not talking about those.chk071 wrote: Mon Jul 20, 2026 3:50 pmNo, it isn't. Educate yourself a bit what it means to develop Reaktor ensembles with Reaktor core.IvyBirds wrote: Mon Jul 20, 2026 3:43 pm It's like if Vibe Coding wasn't going to flood the market already this will make it way worse and people will be trying to sell them for stupid money
Specifically take a look at some of NI's Reaktor instruments, or Pulsecraft Chjro-Nyx, which all took years to develop. It's nothing different to developing a VST instrument or effect with some VST development framework, it's just that the language is different.
And, of course, so far it was limited to running inside of Reaktor.
I am specifically talking about instruments like this that were just presets in Reaktor and turned into an instrument that runs outside of Reaktor.
Right now with zero effort you can build presets/instruments with AI in Reaktor quite easily there is no need to spend years developing them. If this new system then allows you to make stand alone instruments out of them that you can sell as VST3 or AU, you can essentially Vibe Code with AI all the plugins you want in hours or days. What they used to do with products like Pulsecraft Chjro-Nyx that used to take months or years is no longer relevant.
When you can turn some existing super saw presets into a $99 plugin, you can turn any AI generated preset into a plugin
I should know I am already doing this for my own amusement and personal use.

No. Please do look up what a leveraged buyout actually is.jamcat wrote: Mon Jul 20, 2026 3:51 pmAnd you don’t see the connection between the two?el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote: Mon Jul 20, 2026 3:33 pm Not only that, but I always thought criticism of NI’s business practices were that they got cold feet and/or dropped development leaving many in the lurch. Not so much of the ‘Finding themselves in hundreds of millions of debt’ kind of bad business they seemed to accuse NI of.

And why exactly is that different to any other development framework, or modular environment?IvyBirds wrote: Mon Jul 20, 2026 4:16 pm Right now with zero effort you can build presets/instruments with AI in Reaktor quite easily there is no need to spend years developing them. I also think that you exaggerate the issue. Bad vibe coded plugins will easily be spotted, and will sell accordingly.

You clearly don't understand what happened with this instrument, what Reaktor is and what this instrument does. And that's ok. Ask Chat what a "Reaktor ensemble" is and how one is made.IvyBirds wrote: Mon Jul 20, 2026 4:16 pmWhy should I take a look at old Reaktor instruments developed under the old system? Sure I do, and you clearly are misrepresenting what I saididoru97214 wrote: Mon Jul 20, 2026 7:24 pm You clearly don't understand what happened with this instrument, what Reaktor is and what this instrument does. And that's ok. Ask Chat what a "Reaktor ensemble" is and how one is made.
All I am doing is quoting what Matthew from NI said himself on the official NI forum
"In fact, Super*Saw is the first product built with a new platform update to Reaktor, that will eventually open to all builders. It empowers Reaktor builders to create discrete, standalone plug-ins running the Reaktor engine under the hood, with high resolution user interfaces, dedicated authorization, distribution and installation mechanisms. A.G. Cook and friends were creating and using the patches that became this product long before they became this product."
https://community.native-instruments.co ... ent_265884
So taking official communication from NI at their word, A.G. Cook had developed some patches/presets in Reaktor a long time ago. Again that is the language that Matthew from NI used, on the official NI Forum. Maybe you can go lecture him on how wrong he is and that he should ask chat what an ensemble is
Mathew from Ni then going on to say they used what would be assumed to be a beta or alpha version of the new Reaktor platform that will eventually be open to all developers to turn those patches (again NI's language) into the plugin we see here
It would seem that I understand it FAR more than you do
Unlike you I also understand that you can easily right now use multiple AI tools to very rapidly design patches, presets, AND Ensembles.
So once again taking Matthew from NI at his word that means when this is released you will be able to use AI to build anything you want in Reaktor. Once you have that you can then turn that into your own stand alone instrument and you can even use AI to help with the GUI
This method will make is dead simple for just about anyone to make Vibe Coded plugins that you can then sell as VST3 or AU instruments. It's already easy to do that now with other tools but using AI along with Reaktor to make Vibe Coded plugins will be even easier. It will be so easy even you can do it
Note that I never said this Supersaw plugin was vibe coded, just that moving forward the market will be flooded with people doing exactly that, and since the underlying patches were already created in Reaktor this plugin shouldn't cost $99 as it have almost no development costs
Hope this helps, if you need further clarification please read the full post from NI themselves here

I'm still team #FREEBONES, but if the mods just got rid of Ivy, Jam, and Tiles to go along with the Bones ban, this place would be great (again).

Yes, let's get rid of everyone who disagrees with me. That always works out well, historically.TechHaus wrote: Mon Jul 20, 2026 8:40 pm I'm still team #FREEBONES, but if the mods just got rid of Ivy, Jam, and Tiles to go along with the Bones ban, this place would be great (again).
People are so thin skinned these days. I haven't read anything other than arguments being made by the above posters.
It's ok if someone doesn't have the same worldview as yours, in fact, I don't ever recall any time when that wasn't one of the most fundamental realities of life.
As for the synth, seems like a one trick pony w/ a trick I don't really want much less need. Please don't kill me, that's jmo, you can feel different about it and that's ok.

You landed on the real issue here, a smaller company with less worldwide domination goals would have had more resources towards maintaining their code base, not waited 5+ years to hire Brian to recode Absynth, and not been so beholden to bean counters that they thought releasing PLAY instrument ROMplers was the answer to new plugins in general for years now.jamcat wrote: Mon Jul 20, 2026 4:08 pm The other problem with NI is they grossly mismanaged their resources, over-hired, and expanded the company well beyond what their product catalog could support. I don't take any issue with it, my only issue is that $99 is to much for this plugin. Other than that I have never expressed any issues with this plugin, but once again you are misrepresenting what I saidchk071 wrote: Mon Jul 20, 2026 8:50 pmI still wonder what you think the issue with that is supposed to be.IvyBirds wrote: Mon Jul 20, 2026 8:36 pmSure I do, and you clearly are misrepresenting what I saididoru97214 wrote: Mon Jul 20, 2026 7:24 pm You clearly don't understand what happened with this instrument, what Reaktor is and what this instrument does. My point is that NI is going to open the floodgates to make Reaktor a haven for Vibe Coding Plugins. You can draw your own conclusions as to if that is good or bad
