If it's a con, I should feel disappointed, right? I'm happy with the situation.

The dev has done everything the detractors have asked of him. The policy is crystal f-cking clear now. Why are you still trying to drag him down. The horse is dead. You can stop beating it now.

It's clear to me he was trying to do a nice thing by giving away these synths for a $10 donation.
The word "free" was probably misused, but had the "pay what you want" policy stayed in effect, betas probably wouldn't have expired.

You guys badgered him into making it a full on retail synth, and then when he did, you're still here complaining it's a con. wtf?

Not dressing down anyone - just reported my observation which was accurate.

Your observation on the chorus was right, and I'll take back my earlier response. The question of whether I'd used the Juno chorus threw me in the wrong direction: I went and verified the topology, which measured correct, so I was confident the circuit was right. What I hadn't checked was the default depth — a slider I'd assumed sat at 1 was actually at 0.5, so the whole thing ran at half strength. Fixed in 1.0.1. It may even be slightly exaggerated now, but I like it. If you'd check the PIANO 1 or SOUNDTRACK patch and let me know what you think it still lacks, I'd appreciate it.

Not quite a librarian. It can read whole banks from SysEx files (MKS-70, JX-8P, JX-10) and send the current patch/tone to the hardware, but it can't send full banks back — that's something I may add later. So if bank management is what you're after, it isn't that yet.
It does work as a PG-800 though: you can use it to control the hardware directly, and it also responds to a real PG-800 attached to the synth, so moving a slider on the hardware programmer moves it in the plugin.

This is all pretty cool. Thanks for all the effort. I think $19 is super cheap, and honestly I find personally trying to get around the signing on installation a real PITA and I don't think I'm alone with this. If you get enough sales despite the fake SJWs attacking you for not that vague of wording, I would encourage you to go ahead and get the installation signed.

Personally I respect ANY developer who is brave enough and spent enough time coding a hardware emulation that's accurate enough to use the SysEx patches made for that hardware. It's what I want out of emulations in 2026. Maybe 20 years ago you could justify emulating a synth like the Matrix 12 and not at all having the same settings on the "Factory Library" as the original because it's not close at all, but I'm not interested in buying GUI's with filters and oscs that don't work like the thing they claim it to work like anymore. too many of those plugins out there.

So far, I'm extremely pleased with the purchase. It sounds great. It is actually a certain sound and quality of polysynth/pads I've been trying to find for quite some time. I'm already thinking of which sounds/songs I will replace with EightyTen.

I was expecting to fire it up last night and maybe spend a few minutes trying it out, but it sucked me in and I was editing, playing and getting a feel for what it can do for quite a while.

I did find the Browser confusing. I'm not sure it saved the sound correctly. When I went to my saved patch it sounded like a brass sound instead of a quiet pad. But other saves seemed to work.

I wasn't sure what the Tones in the browser are for. They did not change anything regarding the sound, but maybe that's meant for those with the PG. I still was unsure after reading the manual.

I do wish there was an Init function or init patch. I also wish there were more patches, but I think I'll have fun making some. I'll also look for some SysEx files.

I can't speak for how accurate it is to the hardware.

Since I have a touchscreen, I do like the sliders.

That's amazing. I have a PG-800 too and one patch at a time will be an amazing start. Will definitely pick this one up. Maybe we can get some people to design more patches??? I would love to see more attention on it.
