I used to use OP-X Pro all the time for songs I created, imo it still sounds great. 👍🏼

My Four (at this time):
Halion 7 (it's crazy how much potential this thing has - mind boggling)
Retrologue 2 (I love its simplicity and sound. So versatile!)
Omnisphere 3 (of course. The Mothership)
Korg Trinity (I had a real one in the 90's, loved it, sold it, regretted selling it. Love the plug-in. Sounds just like the hardware).

Great choices.

With regards to the Korg Trinity, I also had the HW rack version many years ago, editing that module from the front panel was horrible. I sold it. But I remember it had great sounds, Loved the drum kits.

So, I'm thinking about getting the VST version, you mention it sounds just like the hardware, that is a good confirmation, for some reason, some of the demos I heard didn't really give me that impression. Would you recommend the VST Korg Trinity ?

Thanks,

I don’t have the Trinity but I have their M1 and Wavestation plugins. Both fantastic. Demoed the Triton. Had a hardware M1 and Triton back in the day and the plugins sound just like the hardware. Assuming the Trinity would be of similar quality.

Honestly, if my hard drive died today and I was forced to stick with just four synths, I’d want a mix of two absolute industry standards for the heavy lifting, and two lesser-known gems for personality and sound design.

Here is my current "Desert Island" quad:

1. u-he Diva (The Standard)
I know, zero points for originality here, but I physically can't live without it. When I need that analog warmth, fat Moog-ish bass, or silky Roland pads, nothing else touches it in the VST world. It’s my bread and butter for anything retro or organic.

2. Synapse Audio Dune 3 (The Underrated Workhorse)
People always jump to Serum or Vital, but Dune 3 is an absolute beast that doesn't get half the love it deserves. The VA engine, the differential unison, and the sheer quality of its filters make it sound massive with almost zero effort. It handles polyphonic stuff and complex layered patches way better than most "famous" wavetable synths.

3. Expressive E Noisy 2 (The Hidden Gem)
If you haven't played with this one, you're missing out. It uses acoustic resonance modeling and dynamic synthesis—it doesn't sound like a standard synth at all. It produces these wild, organic, living textures that feel like a hybrid between a real instrument and a sci-fi soundscape. Perfect when you want to avoid "generic VST" syndrome.

4. Spectrasonics Omnisphere 2 (The Infinite Universe)
It’s heavy, it takes half my SSD, but it’s my safety net. Combining deep synthesis with that absurd sample library means if I ever get stuck, I’m 3 clicks away from an insane texture or hybrid instrument I hadn't thought of.

Why did you use AI to write this? It was pretty obvious but I ran it through a checker and it said high confidence of AI.

Not just the category labeling and sentence structure either- omnisphere is NOT a hidden gem by a smaller developer for unique sounds that would fit in that second category of 2, it’s definitely more of a heavy-hitting workhorse like the first two, maybe even moreso.

Is this an actual bot or did you just use AI for ideas and basically take it as is? (for some unknown reason)

Oh I see now- you are a brand new account, your first post was promoting some vibe-coded program you made, posted like 10 comments of “wow great!”, then finally posted one post with actual content… but used AI.

If you can’t even explain in your own words why you like a top 4 plugin but somehow made your “own” plugin, yeah no. Stuff like that is how this place will end up like the rest of the shitty internet.
