Where is the Vekte2Live plugin that's supposed to be bundled? I can work around with loopmidi/etc but this plugin would eliminate round trip latency?
Edit: NVM, seems required to have virtual midi. I'll test with the new Windows Midi Services and report if anything doesn't work.

This is killer!valdlabs wrote: Thu Jul 23, 2026 11:38 pm VEKTE 1.2.0 is here.
VEKTE is a 16-channel generative MIDI sequencer — 36 algorithms, fully deterministic, everything you see is everything it plays. 1.2 is the biggest update yet:
- **Every channel now has a mode.** SEQ is the sequencer you know. ARP turns a channel into an arpeggiator that plays whatever pattern the engine generated — from your keyboard, or driven by another VEKTE channel. KIT turns it into a fixed 12-note kit built from any scale — one octave, still very beta: point it at a drum kit mapped within one octave and let the algorithms play the pads. It will improve with your input.
Channels can play each other.
Route a SEQ channel into an ARP channel and the sequence becomes the arp's conductor — melodies that play melodies. Chain as deep as you like.
APPROACH & FILL.
Two new humanizers that improvise in-scale passing notes between your notes — APPROACH sneaks short pickups in before the next note, FILL bridges the whole gap like a melodic tie. Deterministic, visible on the piano roll before they sound, always in key.
Plus: ratchets with musical rates, six interpolation shapes for modulation, smarter ties that show what they play, humanize that wraps the loop, and three weeks of beta fixes.
For now APPROACH, FILL and ratchet are reached through MOD lanes only — dedicated knobs are coming.
Remember: every slot patch or whole song is a short shareable key
Use PTTRN Key to see it or Copy / Paste key in the menu: paste yours in the thread or with friends, if you'd like to test it.

Five minutes with 1.2.0:
Load VEKTE on a MIDI track, point a synth at it, press play — it opens with a default playing patch:
1. ARP — click ARP on the NOTE lane's left rail, play a note: the generated pattern arpeggiates from it, and the note you hold becomes the root. RTRG restarts the pattern on every new note; LATCH keeps it running silently so it re-enters mid-flow.
2. SEQ playing an ARP — slot 1 SEQ, slot 2 ARP, turn slot 1's DEST past 16 to A2. Slot 1 goes silent and starts conducting slot 2. Hit RND on either and listen to it reorganize.
3. APPROACH — add a MOD lane, set T: to Approach, turn it on, raise MAX. Wherever the melody jumps, one to three short in-scale passing notes lean into the next note, drawn dim on the piano roll before they sound. HUMN above 50 arms a bit automatically.
4. FILL — same idea, target Fill: the passing notes stretch across the whole gap between two notes. Try a sparse pattern with TIE off and the space turns into a walking line.
5. KIT — set a slot to KIT for a fixed 12-note kit from your scale and root. Point it at a drum kit mapped within one octave and it works.

Looking forward to the iPad version of Vekte as it'll simplify syncing this sequencer to an MPC in standalone mode. Will buy!valdlabs wrote: Fri Jul 17, 2026 5:59 pm
Thank you! I'll let you know once i have the next update, and afterwards I'll focus on the iPad version. In the meanwhile i'll still be able to reply to here if needed![]()

The helper plugin is currently being re-developed! I had released a version but was buggy, so I am still working on it. I should have removed it from the manual for now.solar28 wrote: Fri Jul 24, 2026 7:34 pm Where is the Vekte2Live plugin that's supposed to be bundled? Thanks for the kind words! Here is a new version with an annoying bug fix - which in some cases would not allow users to click the notes and mod lane curves.simmo75 wrote: Fri Jul 24, 2026 8:35 pm This is killer!

What’s New in VEKTE 1.2.0 & 1.2.1
Channel Modes (SEQ / KIT / ARP)
Channels are no longer just standard sequencers — you can now set each channel’s role:
SEQ: The core 5-lane generative engine.
KIT: A dedicated 1-octave, mono pad/drum mapper (12 notes mapped directly from your selected scale/root).
ARP: Input-driven arpeggiator. The algorithm only generates notes when incoming MIDI is held, re-rooting the pattern live. Includes EXT/INT input sources, LATCH mode, and RTRG (retrigger).
Grid-Locked Timing (1.2.1): Clock advances 1:1 with the host without drifting, snapping to the next grid cell when resuming from a freeze.
Inter-Slot Bus — Conductors & Modulated Routing
Channels Playing Channels: Route a slot's MIDI output directly into another slot running in ARP mode. You can now chain SEQ → ARP or build complex ARP → ARP sequences.
Dynamic Routing: Dest/Routing is a MOD target, so a MOD lane can re-route a slot on a per-step basis.
Chord-as-Scale (1.2.1): When a conducting SEQ plays a chord, the target ARP automatically dynamically adapts its scale strictly to those pitch classes (e.g., a 3-note triad forces a 3-note scale).
APPROACH & FILL — Humanized Passing Notes
Two deterministic humanization tools that draw in-scale passing notes between melodic jumps of 2+ scale degrees:
APPROACH: Adds 1–3 pickup notes before the target note in available free space. Features a dedicated APPR knob on the NOTE lane (1.2.1) and auto-arms when HUMN > 50%.
FILL: Stretches passing notes across the whole gap between notes as a melodic tie. Controllable via MOD lanes or DAW automation.
Workflow & Engine Refinements (1.2.1)
Dedicated Base Knobs: VEL, LENG, APPR, and RATCH knobs on the NOTE lane apply whenever an active MOD lane isn't driving them. Knobs glow live when modulated.
6 MOD Interpolation Laws: SQR, RMP, TRI, CRV, MIX, and RND — now with a selectable /1 sub-division across all laws and visual guide lines on target grids.
UI Updates: MIDI and Root dropdowns moved directly onto the lane bar for faster access.
Full System Capabilities
16 Channels & 5 Lanes per Channel: 1 NOTE lane + 4 MOD lanes running independent algorithms, step divisions, and playhead directions.
36 Deterministic Algorithms: Grouped by family (Rhythmic, Number/Sequence, Chaos, Cellular, Harmonic/Melodic, Wave/Geometric). Integer-exact math ensures 100% cross-platform reproducibility.
Deep Modulation: MOD lanes target performance (Velocity, Gate, CCs), pitch/scales, generator parameters (Steps, Dense, Prob, Rot), groove, or algorithm P1–P4 controls.
73 Scales & 39 Chords: Scale-locked piano roll editing, strumming, and octave stretching.
Groove & Timing: Per-channel Swing, per-lane Humanize, and Swing-Lock to keep divisions in the pocket.
Preset Sharing: Copy/paste single-channel or full-song state using compact, human-readable text keys.
Bugfix: thanks andrelafosse!
As always, grab the update and let us know what you build or if you hit any host-specific quirks!andrelafosse wrote: Fri Jul 24, 2026 6:52 am Is this behavior normal? I'm clicking in the piano roll, but the affected notes are many rhythmic divisions away from where I'm clicking. (And, clicking in the mod lanes doesn't seem to do anything.)

@valdlabs you've created something really unique in Vekte. I've bought more sequencers than I can remember in hardware, plugin, and VCV Rack formats....some have been interesting, quite a few powerful, several mind-bending...very few have stuck around in my regular use: OXI One, Stepic, the Elektron sequencer. I have a feeling Vekte will join the list.
