This was Zebra circa 2003:

Looks pretty good to me, especially for that time period.

Clean layout and easy to understand. Would still be useable today, around two decades later.
The look and layout are not that bad. The choice of colours is though. Total lack of contrast, and boring colours.

Well, u-he's GUI look a 100 times better now, no complaints there.

honestly i think you nailed the whole GUI/UX thing. I use u-he synths over anything else not only for sound, but because despite synths being wildly different (i.e. bazille to zebra to repro), there's a common "mindset" to them that's super intuitive once you grasp it

I agree. Synth software that does not look like a synthesizer needs a huge manual so everyone has a map "which button is which synth knob?". Urs has a sane understanding of GUI design. This is rare in today's IT world.

Uhe gui are one of several reasons I don't use their synths

What are the other reasons, except that you don't like analog sounds? :D

The analogue sound is covered by my hardware. I'm interested in their new eurorack filter.

Post

I guess that's why. I don't really have hardware (not counting an old guitar and a MIDI input device) for music anymore, but I still adore the old sounds, so u-he is for me.
