I'm always happy to see any developer take on one of the hybrid or digital synths from the era.

If every analog synth known to mankind can be emulated then synths like the K3 are certainly fair game.

Sorry yeah, brain fart as the the K5 is fully additive, the earlier K3 was more analog-like but it does technically have digitally controlled oscillators...

In any case, it's nothing like the later K1/K4 range.

(I used to have Keyfax 2 literally imprinted upon my brain - unfortunately I'm now at the age where some of the finer details won't fit in any more and escape... )

The K3 had an additive oscialtor and beyond that utilizes 32 digital waveforms all run through an analog filter.

The K1 has 52 raw 8-bit PCM acoustic samples, and 204 "VM" (Variable Memory) additive waveforms which are essentially presets from the additive engine

They compliment each other very well in hardware and would on software also

FWIW you can legally download all of the additive single cycle waveforms and the pcm samplesfrom the K1 library here for free

They sound really good loaded into Arturia Prophet VS.

You can also load them into the Arturia Synclavier V. If you do that you can resynthesize them back into an additive patch that is fully editable

Yes, he graciously offers all his simulations for free, and always has. But I know many people on KVR are interested in supporting independent developers, so I thought I'd mention it.

No one has to donate, of course. And no one needs to feel guilty if they don't. I've simply posted a link to his "Donate" button since it's not on the page with the plug-ins, and that's usually the only page people visit.
