A few years ago i gave up on all my hardware stuff and sold it because of reasons i won't get into. I realised i miss it alot and the software stuff i have recently gotten doesn't give me the satisfaction the old hardware did.
What i have owned:
Roland Juno 106
Roland Alpha Juno 2
Roland S-550 Sampler
Roland W-30 Sampler
Roland SH-2
E-MU Emax
Korg 01/W
Yamaha CS1x
Yamaha AN1x
Yamaha DX7
Kawai K4
Korg A1 multieffects processor.
Behringer mixer
Mackie mixer
Various Alesis effects
Probably some more stuff i forgot. The only thing i have left today is the Korg A1 and for some reason, the Kawai K4.
Now, what i miss the most is the godawful-to-work-with W-30 and the SH-2. The W-30 just such a great sound i will never forget and the SH-2 was just so awesome. I sometimes cry when i think that my SH-2 was stolen from me (along with my DX7) during a gig many years ago.
What is your favourite gear that you sold or no longer have?

that´s bad, man...SH´s obviously are very popular for thieves - somebody also stole my SH-101 a few years ago..I replaced it with a SH-09, which basically is the same synth but made of metal(more stable than 101) but sadly not that lil step-sequencer, which was pretty neat..
hey, but if you really miss the sound of the w-30(what I understand- s550 is my last hardware sampler in my rig because of it´s great filter) get an used s-550 really cheap, I´m shure!

I just recently sold off most of my hardware so I could go back to school. I USED to have the following:
Akai S3000XL (fully expanded)
Roland SH-101
Roland D-550
Roland MKS-50
Korg M1R-EX
Elektron SidStation
Yamaha TX802
Yamaha TX81Z
Oberheim Matrix-1000
Peavey PC-1600X
Boss CL-50
TraceElliot bass preamp
Fender bass head and 1x15
SWR Bassic 2way (1x15 + Tweeter)
Roland bass preamp
All of it gone now...and all of it very much missed. My musical creativity has gone down the drain...I havent even gotten a good start on a new song since I sold all my gear off. But I did get tuituin paid and a collection of overpriced books
I still have a relabled MAM SB33 MKII (TB303 emulator), an ESI-4000 turbo zip sampler (128 meg), and a Mackie LM3204 sitting around waiting for a buyer...but thats not the most creative building setup without some other gear to back it up.

The only thing I really miss is my Yamaha SG-2000X sunburst electric guitar. The damn thing was so heavy it almost broke my back...but it was a great instrument.
I have never owned a HW synth.

I know what you mean about breaking your back too...I still have my first bass. Its a Peavey T-40. Thing weighs about 13 lbs...but it sounds great!

Guitar wise,it's a tie between my old(mid '60s)Rickenbacker 360/12(I sold it to finance a move to LA to join a band that imploded after three months)and the first guitar I ever built(a sunburst with custom electronics and a Floyd Rose-it was ripped off).
Synth wise,my old Two-Voice and Four-Voice Oberheims;I sold them to keep myself above water during a rough time in my life...

Me too, I especially miss my fully loaded 79 natural wood Strat.TechnoWeeniePas wrote:I just recently sold off most of my hardware so I could go back to school.
The only thing I couldn't get a buyer for was my Esteban Guitar given to me by my grandmother.

I had a lot of hardware that I sold when I needed money for rent and food and stuff but the only thing I miss is my TL Audio channel strip.

Gear I've sold:
- Roland Juno 106
- Roland SPD-11
- Moog Prodigy
- Korg X5D (my first synth)
- Roland JP-8000 (had it only for a few months)
- Ensoniq SQ-80
- Korg Poly-800 Mk1
- Yamaha VL70-m
I really miss the Prodigy and the JP-8000, but I made a good profit by selling them. I also miss the X5D but more for sentimental reasons than for its sounds.
The others I don't miss at all. The Juno had a great sound but it was bulky and unreliable. The SQ-80 had an annoying clacking keyboard and lots of power problems, and now I have an ESQ-1. The Poly-800 had some faulty keys; I replaced it with an EX-800. The VL70m just got sold recently; amazing synth, but not very fun to program.

I miss my Rhodes Chroma that burned in a fire, and I sort of miss the Memory Moog though it was a rushed product. I also wish I still had my late 70's curly mapel top Gibson Les Paul.
All I need to be happy is one more VSTi.

I don't really miss the gear I've sold.
Including Casio CZ5000, Roland W30, Korg Wavestation.
I'm still (sort of) trying to part with and sell a Korg M3R, Emu Proteus FX, Roland M-VS1 and Roland MT-32.
The reason I don't miss the gear I've sold is because I've moved to software synths that sound just as good and are much more convenient. Sure I miss the tactile feel of a hardware synth, negligible latency, nice, unique sounds, and "jammability" (i.e switch it on and away you go - no waiting for Windows to boot!). But, I don't miss the space they all took, mess of MIDI and audio cables, noise floor (especially the Chorus on the CZ5000 and reverb on MT-32), and loading of sample disks on the W-30.
You'll always fondly remember the fun you had with the gear you sold, but all the new software out now is equally exciting, a lot cheaper than the old hardware (especially free VSTi's) and a new challenge for your creativity.
