Haven't seen such personally but I wouldn't like to comment on it anyway. Doesn't pay my rent.

@porpoise:
I not an expert on that topic but as far as I know we'll be having part of the engine on schedule soon, maybe that goes along with that (perhaps it's already is in there in some way, but I can't tell. Multiple CPU support is never trivial but Sam is already doing some clever scheduling AFAIK). Maybe you better log on to our forum at samplitude.com and ask Volker about that. He knows exactly.

HI

I didn't know there was a forum for Samplitude - I will get over there!!!

Yes, I know. For reasons such as download size we've had to skip a few things like the robota and the am suite (both would be +9MB installer size AFAIK). But believe me, I'm not happy with that. Maybe that needs users like you insisting on it, dunno
Hi Sascha ,

For the sake of an extra 9mb's I think they are making a big mistake leaving out your Analog Modelling Suite especially considering how popular your Fish Fillets are.I mean it's 2005 and many people have broadband connections now. I think I will email Magix and point out this fact.

With regards to the V8 demo I am enjoying it very much an will probably purchase soon although there are still a few things I will miss from Logic .
Cons :
1- No folders ( although there is a hide tracks feature which semi makes up for it )
2- No screensets
3- No Automation curves for sends .
4- Will miss Logics array of plug-ins\Virtual Instruments (although I'm coming to terms with that)
5-Multiple takes in Punch/Loop mode not working correctly .

Pros :
1-Sample accurate editing
2-Full PDC
3-Drum editor seems very cool
4-Elastic Audio
5-Built in Mastering CD\DVD burning
6-Analog Modelling Suite - ok it's not in the demo but I know it will be great :)

These are my initial observations -OK I was up until 6am testing the demo :-o

Hi,

I am interested in accessing the forum to do some research on Samplitude. Do you have any way for non-registered users to access this information?

Thanks,

It's impossible unless you know someone who is registered but you could try news.nv.net for the samp-seq newsgroup it's pretty active .

Othere less active forums are :

Interesting list, I agree with your observations. Honestly, I don 't know what I'm going to do without screensets. I hate having to open/close or move windows around a single screen! I guess I need to move to a dual monitor setup... But it seems to me that including this feature shouldn't be too difficult :?

No automation curves on sends? You're saying they can't be automated at all, or the automation can only be done in straight lines? Again, if the first is true, that will be a serious hindrance to my current workflow.

And yeah, I'm hooked on the ES2(love it :hihi: ) and even the EXS24, I just never got around to learning a new sampler, I tried a few demos, they just didn't feel as comfy as I do w/the EXS.

I do like Samplitude though, I like the way it "feels", even just moving sliders and navigating the menus! Looks pretty too :)

I think I'll give it a few months to mature, maybe a .1 release or two and look into it again...

All the Samp windows are floating so it's less of a hassle and the zooming features in the arrange are pretty good and as it's sample accurate you can do most of your editing it that workspace (although there is a wave editor and of course a midi editor ) . As I'm using 3 x 22" monitors it's less of a problem for me :)

No curves or straight lines :( The only way to automate the sends is to set up a separate AUX track and automate the volume on that but it's not the best workaround . Another method is to use the object editor which allows you to cut up audio tracks in to as many parts as you want and then insert FX and ajust send levels on the individual parts .This is fine for "spot fx" but no good if you want to increase a send level over a few bars .

I agree and also the workspace isn't cluttered with cryptic icons like SX and Sonar is . You can even remove all the toolbars if you choose and just use keyboard shortcuts .

Three? Very nice! I guess I'm gonna have to get another screen, I really have some kinda rediculous problem with moving windows around

But I assume you can automate the effects themselves that are on the send track? If so, I'll be alright, most of my plugins I would use in this manner have automatable in/mix/out levels, I think...

You know, I never really thought about it before, but maybe that's one reason I like Logic, I don't think I ever have to click on a single button, and I don't actually have any in view anywhere in my screensets. More space for my arrange, piano roll, mixer and VST's!

Yes you can automate VST plug-ins by clicking on the drop down menu for that track and selecting "Midi Controllers/VST Automation curves settings" This includes a learn button so you can map faders/pots if you use an external controller .

Actually I'm finding that Samplitude seems to be alot less window intensive than I thought it would be
due to the sample accurate editing available in the arrange and also the midi editor can be switched from a Matrix editor to a Hyper Editor with a click of a button .

HI

I must have missed something but it took me an age to get a vsti working!

Last time I demoed V7 it seemed to be more straight foward!

I will go back today - fresh!

I need to get something clear about this track volume automation.

I am currently using Live 4. It doesn't have a Mixer per say, but allows you to change the volume of a track over the length of the track. So, you can have it slowly ramp up at the beginning of the track, then slowly ramp down to zero volume. I can do this anywhere in the track and have any section of the track increase/decrease in volume.

Is this possible in Sam V8 on either the audio or Midi track?

P.S. I am getting scarryingly close to buying Sam V8.

Thanks,

Yep. Hope it's okay ;)
Do you know if there are plans to allow MIDI vst instruments like ERA to work in Samplitude? I really miss that.
