I'm sure it's just me, but the thing I'm most excited about at NAMM so far is the RMX 1.2 update.

Squids said there was something we were going to love. The way he talked about it I can't imagine it was Amplitube 2, but so far there's nothing else (besides a website for his band :D )

How about you? What caught your eye?
If every KVR member wrote one review a year we'd have 1340 reviews each day!

Well they did officially announce Studiophonik (is this finished already, we're you guys playing it at NAMM?)

The thing I'm most excited about is kontakt 2

The new (free) Sampletank 2 upgrade!!!

http://www.sampletank.com/PressReleases/ST21-05-01.pdf

Especially, with the introduction of key splits! 16 stereo outputs ( instead of 8 ), and a new and improved Stretch...

That new Bass amp sounds pretty cool to me.. I can't wait to demo it: http://www.sampletank.com/PressReleases ... -05-01.pdf

The AAS string synth sounds really cool. I hope there will be a demo: http://www.applied-acoustics.com/stringstudio.htm

It only uses physical modelling, so I think new types of strings sounds should be possible.. but I haven't heard it at work yet. I just hope it sounds good..

Tracktion 2 is definitely the most exciting announcement for me so far - this is going to really be big.

Of course I was expecting that announcement anyway. So in terms of "new" stuff:

The M-Audio soft synths really caught my eye, especially the keybaord one. I will certainly get a demo of this when its available.

Also Kontakt 2. I've been eyeing version 1.5 for a while and thinking it would be a good addition to my set up. But I assumed version 2 might be in the offing this year, and here it is. So there's one to consider.

SoundForge 8 and Project 5 v.2 look like very good updates to me, although I won't need them as I'm an Audition and Reason owner.

The Cakewalk aquisition of rgc:audio has been the most eye-catching news so far for me, but that's only because much of the truly exciting stuff being shown has been known about for some time now.

Kontakt 2 does look very impressive though (and it was unexpected, at least for me).

Haven't I known about Studiophonik for months? Oh, yeah... I have!

Squids was definitely biting his tongue about something, and Smart chimed in that yes, it was very cool but he also wouldn't say anything, so it wasn't Studiophonik. I also doubt it was the Sampletank update, but I could be wrong. :?

In addition to Amplitube 2 and Studiophonik, IK/SR announced Philharmonik Vitous, which is pretty interesting to me.

And I agree that Kontakt 2 is pretty exciting even though it's just a new version of an existing product.

Hi Hewitt.. then maybe this new Orchestral rompler? http://www.sampletank.com/PressReleases/PLK-05-01.pdf

..for me it´s the P5 II Upgrade...because it gets much more new features than i expected and it seems to me that i won´t need Reason or Live anymore, so i can sell it and buy new hardware... :D

I have yet to see anything thats really knocked my socks off.. most of this stuff I kind of figured would occur, has already been done before, or doesnt really apply to my needs (like the geeetahr stuffs) :)

though the fusion workstation LOOKS tasty.. I bet I'll consider it overpriced when that info has been released..

In order of gob smackingness:

1) The Garritan Stradivarius morphing sample resynthesiser. Stunning video demo.

http://www.gpo-uploads.com/StradivariLarge.mpg

2) The acquisition of RGC:Audio by Cakewalk, and the inclusion of MultiModeSampler in Project 5.

3) Minimonsta - looks and sounds fabulous.

4) Kontakt 2: The inclusion of KSP and convolution in Kontakt 2, and the impressive sounding bundled library (VSL! East West! Sonic Implants!)

5) Sampletank 2.1 Update - improved STRETCH - fantastic!

It's been a stonking NAMM so far IMO... All we need to top it off is the Steinaha VL70-m VSTi :D
Music with dinner is an insult both to the cook and the violinist.
