I'll second that. Gimp is almost like having Photoshop 5 for free.

to be exact: I tried download.com ideas, and photo editor free, came up with nothing even remotely close.

How about a freeware gif animator? I googled for that but some of the results seemed shady so I was hesitant to download anything.
Ideas are bulletproof... I am not.
