Well, I just got the right number of bytes downloaded, but the zip had crc errors.
Is the kit worth the effort by the way?

6th attempt failed. I'm out.
Please provide a direct link.
If the sf is worth the effort, I can mirror it on my site. (unlimited bandwidth)

Try this guys 'n' gals. Off my own webspace, it'll be up for a few days but i can't do it for much longer than that, depending on how many downloads I get...

ZK, it might be better for you to use up CC's bandwidth, then. I'll hold off for now.

Howdy. Thanks for this gift. No problems downloading from home -- admittedly on a 3Meg connection.
Overall, this is a nice set of samples! The kick, normal rimshot, and snare are lively, authoritative, and feel present. I especially like you've preserved the pitch changes characteristic of a real kick drum. I miss having a second snare (I'm gettng closer to making my drum rolls sound good), but that's no biggie.
On to the bad things, and there aren't many. Please, don't be angry that I'm looking a gift horse in the mouth, but I feel you deserve the respect of some honest feedback. Anyway, some of the cymbals feel a little subdued and inflexible; I find the open hit-hat and crash (the A# and C#, and I'm probably calling them by the wrong names) believable, but unusable. No biggie; I could see (hear) these working well in a lot of contexts nonetheless.
Again, thanks.

Yes but Opera has a download resume function.ZioKiller wrote:It's not browser's fault.. it's the server which breaks the download all of a sudden..Teksonik wrote:For those of you having trouble downloading, try the Opera browser.
Oh and yes if you're looking for a good acoustic kit this one is well worth the download.

Techsonic, have you actually tried it with a dial up connection?
Unless that site has changed, Opera's resume doesn't work. Unless a newer version of Opera makes a difference.
I've never been able to download anything bigger than about 10mb from that site using Opera, firebird, or firefox.

Personally I use Firefox and I never have any problems with sf2midi downloads. Glad you like the kit, do whatever you want with it.Teksonik wrote:Thank you Geoff! This is a very nice acoustic kit. The different mic distances add a fantastic flavor. Do you mind if I strip out the samples and create an RM4 kit?
For those of you having trouble downloading, try the Opera browser.
I wish I had some webspace (well, I do, but it doesn't have enough bandwidth) so I could post all my soundfonts for easy download rather than having to post through sf2midi.
I was considering setting up some sort of deal where I would upload them onto yousendit.com, and then post links on a website. After downloading them, other people could upload them onto yousendit.com and post the links on the same website. (I can program in PHP, so I could set that up) It's highly reliant on the good-will of others, though.

Oh, I appreciate the criticism, I really do. You might be able to replace the cymbals and hihat with ones from the NS kit, but I'm not sure how that'd sound.Jafo wrote: On to the bad things, and there aren't many. In other news I just finished making what I call a "Thrash Blues Guitar." It has many articulations. You might find it useful, but it's a pretty specialized sound. I'll let you know when they post it on sf2midi.com.
My next project is making a completely dry guitar soundfont with many realistic articulations. It's designed so that you can apply the effects that you want -- for example VSTs like GuitarRig, Amplitude, etc.

What version of Opera are you using? By the way why is it so hard to spell TEKSONIK ?PT wrote:Techsonic, have you actually tried it with a dial up connection?

Geoff,I'm looking forward to your future works. The dry guitar sounds interesting. Thanks again!
PT: You're right the server must support resume broken downloads for Opera's resume function to work. Sorry.
