Sounds like a Neuron to me. That's it!!! You have your answer...

Kyma does this now.

The immediate 'future' is nanotechnology & dna computing. Instruments will have incredible power on microscopic level, I can't wait for developers to implement these technologies for me to abuse. Like midi-controller tits etc. sorry

Big difference between a $900 synth plugin and a $3500 (just to get started) sound design system.

destroy planets with the touch of a button!!!

Or possibly create total songs using multiple synthesis methods, with unlimited LFOs filters, evelopes, effects, etc, and be able to interface with software and hardware at the same time

the most powerful synth ever makes sines of every frequency and
allows you to control thier amplitude and phase exactly with modulating
signals made of sines of every frequency with exact control of amplitude
and phase with modulat..er shit.

There sure is...(he says, while modulating extracted partials in Kyma with a graphics tablet  ).

The answer is simple.

A non-linear sub particle generated sound warp system with C-22 extension units supported by interfrequencial AI neo-sonic waves.

Post

Oh yes. Forgot to add. The C-22 extension units are connected to the V-11 matrix conductors ofcourse.

Seriously, though, Kyma is it. Or can be, if you put forth the effort. I have yet to think of any sound design task I can't do in Kyma. It doesn't come cheap, but you do get your money's worth. It isn't as easy to use "right out of the box" as some other things...but that is because it doesn't restrict itself to any "traditional" equipment roles. Kyma CAN be the greatest synthesizer on the planet, but it can also be an awe-inspiring effects processor. More than that, though. You get the most from Kyma by adjusting the way you think of the studio and studio tasks. Audio (real time and recorded) are interchangeable with synthesis, sampling, processing, sequencing. I mean...it even changes the recording process if you let it. The Timeline is a good case in point. It's a snap to record sequences (or set up sequences to play, evolve...whatever) and then manipulate them with, say, the pitch or dynamic of the audio input. Want to apply reverb to every froth partial in your voice, and then use the amplitude to morph the reverb tail into a violin? Kyma will do that. How about sequencing the even harmonics of your guitar as you play?

Believe me, the cost of the unit is nothing compared to the demands it will try to make on your time. Kyma isn't a "pre-rolled" or "pre-designed" system. You must decide how it acts in a given role. And then you have to construct that function or functions. Demanding, but with bottomless potential.

Fantastic thread, rabbyt 8)

The PC dedicated to the super synth.

I would take a leaf out of Rene Ceballos' book and go for pure quality ... use all the power of a high spec PC to deliver the finest quality ever.

When Rene designed Pentagon, Zeta and sfz he didn't do anything that radical. He just made synths that sounded better.

I love the idea of a small laptop that I could take anywhere and crank up with the world's best synth sound :D

Yeah that kyma looks like the one.. I saw a review of it on future music and they love it.. Was used on the Starwars movies (not the old ones ofcourse) and I guess that speaks for itself..

Now if something existed with the sound engine of Kyma, and the sexy looks of an Alesis Andromeda for example and didnt require a PHD of Engineering to operate..
