If you got the $$$($649.00)......... http://namm.harmony-central.com/WNAMM05 ... rCore.html if this sounds like the real thing, even $649.00 is a bargain on top of the $399.00 element.

Over Priced? Yes. Misleading? Yes.But a VSS3 far from sucks and could still wind up being the best reverb plug availible as far as plugins go.

Rhetorical sleight-of-hand, yes, but consider that if you run this plug on the Element card, it would still be like having an M3000 for half price with expandable effects algorithms. This with the top of the line FW box would still be more power than an M3000 for not that much more in absolute dollars and therefore a better value, if you've got that much money. No, I can't afford it, but if I could, I think it would be a good value.

But for the same price as an element and the reverb, with UA's current promotion you can get a studio pack with pultec pro free, plate 140 (which is not at all a shoddy reverb, though not directly comparable...) for 50 bucks and have money left over.
Or 2 project packs, la-2a free, plate 140 for 50 bucks, and have some cash + a $50 plug coupon from UA left.
I know what I'd do...
Anyway I certainly don't mean to say their reverbs are crap, even their older stuff is nice of course, but with competitor's plugins starting to get quite a bit better, the value per $ here is pretty low to me. The price is high enough that I want to either go buy a $200 plugin or go all the way and drop $2.5k on a Reverb 4000 and get the full arsenal of algorithms.

I certainly don't disagree. When I think of hardware dsp for my computer audio, I lean towards UAD myself, based on experiences in a studio equipped with both where I do some work. I like the sound generally better and considered as a bundle a better product line in VFM terms.contrast wrote:But for the same price as an element and the reverb, with UA's current promotion you can get a studio pack with pultec pro free, plate 140 (which is not at all a shoddy reverb, though not directly comparable...) for 50 bucks and have money left over.

Your best point is that its price makes it a kind of 'tweener. There are native alternatives and evn UAD add-ons for less money. I don't know if I'd go all the way to Reverb4 vs PoCo because of the variety of and number of simultaneous effects available in the computer peripheral.
My only point about the new verb is that it is an option and not necessarily an outrage. Perhaps the best $2000 solution if one did have that kind of money would be an Element with VSS3 and a loaded UAD. Otherwise, I think I'll keep saving for a UAD, while continuing to use my TC MOne on the spdif i/o of my soundcard.

You sound like a wanabee to me. Are you an experienced professional? You're buying the plugin and not the hardware unit. So no, I don't think so.EJo wrote:Dont listen the the people here that don't even have the cash to buy a powercore, or whatever their reason is for bashing the Vss3. First of all: the Vss3 is by far the best reverb plugin available. It's WAY way better than realverb, classicverb and megaverb. It's also quite better than TC Fireworx or the Lexicon reverbs. I have those and several more, and i'm not hesitating one second to get a license for Vss3 as soon as possible. It's a STEAL at that price. It's possible that it's the same as the M3000, but so what? It's cheaper, and it suits all of us better because we WANT a plugin. TC never said Vss3 is the only reverb lugin for M6000, but it IS the most popularly used plug for it. This is one of the best reverbs out there. You guys don't have ANYTHING like this, unless you own a PCM91 or similar, which costs at least 3 times more. So stop bashing the Vss3. If you think dreamverb is better than this, you don't have the first clue as to what you're talking about. Any experienced professional can tell you they're worlds apart.
FYI, advertising a M3000 verb as M6000 is bollox (any experienced professional can tell you.
But don't let us stop your fanboy rantings. Proceed...

Listening to the audio examples, I think it's a great product at a great price. I've got a PCM 91 as well, and as EJo says, I'd love to have this quality of reverb in a plugin.
And why do so many people think that "experienced professionals" only buy hardware units? Contrary to what you might read, there are many professionals that use and love plugins. A lot!

EJo quoth It's also quite better than TC Fireworx or the Lexicon reverbs.
Ummm, yeah, course it is. The TC Fireworx isnt actually a sodding reverb in the first place.
Guess owning one 'and several more' doesnt mean you actually know what it does.
