I dl'd SS2 Free and installed it, but I can't seem to load any sounds. I located the folder called presets and dragged it onto the folder called intruments, but when I open an instance in FL Studio I get messages saying "sound 1 not found, sound 2 not found etc...".

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? :help:

I just tried Free for the first time today. Me like! The presets folder should be left alone, I think. There should be presets already there when you unzip the d/l file. The sounds, though, are a seperate d/l--did you get them? They are the ones that go in the instruments folder. There's a pretty good number of them, too. :)

Brilliant. :( I can't find the sounds and I can't find the link to SS2 Free anymore. I'm getting stupider!

:help: (again).

Not your fault. It's actually quite hard to find.

Yeah, for now that's just the Keyboard magazine version which is SUPPOSED to be hard to find (or mainly for Keyboard magazine readers only).

The official IK/SR public free version of Sonik Synth 2 should be coming out soon though with different sounds (but it will also read these).

Please be sure to have your main files- the .sti, sth, stw and .stip files in the SS2Instruments folder where it browses to and put the combi presets (the .ikmp files) into the SS2Presets folder. Those load at the top of the module. Note that if you put the other sounds into the SS2 Presets folder they won't work!!! That's because SS2 Presets are for COMBIS only. The rest of the sounds need to be browsed to just like SampleTank 2 does it (and the default place to put them is in the SS2Instruments folder).

By the way, all of this is detailed in the included docs I believe.

Sorry, no speekey Eenglish. I click link for software? :D

Okay, seriously, I'm pretty good with Eenglish, but I was a bit confused by the docs. I don't think they said it as precisely or concisely as you did above. I was imagining a little language barrier might be to blame. Their English is better than my Italian, so, I'm not complaining. Plus, isn't the song "Instant Karma" about complaining about free VSTi's? I'm pretty sure...

Thanks, Squids for generousity of time and talent (as always).

And Jeez and Savior as well.

Downloaded it and set it up fine.

However, I cannot get it to show up at all as an AU in Logic 7.

It shows/loads up fine in GarageBand.

Anyone else have this problem?

Hi Squids. Any chance the newer version will work with Logic 7? Sonic Synth 2 Free isn't passing Apple's AU validation. Can't wait to check it out once it does. Thanks.

It's not showing up because it's not passing the AU validation test. You can open up the validator and see that it's in the list but with no check next to it.

Is SS2 Free going to be updated to pass AU validation? That would make it a more impressive demo of the full version.
