'bout fuckin' time. Sheesh. Now if they'd cure the problem with full bounce downs missing up to a quarter measure of the song, totally throwing off the timing when you drag the track into another application...

Amazing how Logic has gotten a "pass" on this for so long. It's not even listed as a "con" in the reviews. Any other application would have been eaten alive for missing this feature...well except Ableton Live I guess  Honestly though, this is good to hear and I'm sure will make many Logic users very happy.

did you read the sound on sound one? lists it in the cons section quite clearly.
Sorry no I didn't. I read another review that didn't mention this (Keyboard maybe?)...can't remember now. Anyhow, I realize for some people's specific use it doesn't matter anyway. Personally I would need it. Regardless, I have some pals that are going to mighty happy when this shows up. Anyone happen to catch a timeframe on this?

Oops, just noticed this: "Apple declined to be more specific on when a new version of Logic Pro with Bus Latency Compensation would be released."

Just a quick reply to Devon:
I have made a couple of records bringing bounced tracks everywhere (to PT or Cubase studios). No problem.
The annoying thing is that you have to leave some empty measures at the end of the track, to be sure it's not cut. But once you know that, you should have no particular problems.
Hope it helps.
About delay compensation? Well, it's time they do it! But I think they should make it for free, it's a due upgrade!

Yes, if you leave like the first 2 measures at the beginning of the project blank, you're golden. Try that once you've done freeze on your tracks? It ain't happening. I just find it hard to believe that we're up to version 7 and version 4 had this same problem and is STILL doing it. Drives me nuts when I drag a full wav into Cubase to add tracks to it from Logic and I have to drag the wave around to get it to line up. :x

Oh, it's there, trust me. I work with Endmusik for over a year and gone through Logic 6 and 7 with him. I also had Logic from version 2.0 through 5.5. Obviously the problem didn't come about until Logic Audio, but... If I have him render out a track with the Klopgeist on, you'll notice the transient of the very first 'beep' is chopped. Also, if I take a song of him fully rendered out, and drop it into Cubase, I have to slide it back in order for it to line up perfectly. Now, if you give it something like 2 measures of silence at the beginning, it'll line up perfectly then when it starts on measure 3.

Try it yourself and see. It's somethign that's always been there, and always bugged me. My friend pointed out the problem years ago on version 4.x and how he'd always give himself 8 measures of silence to make sure it lined up. I discovered he was just going overboard, and I'd do 2 or 4. Pain in the ass when you bounce down for external synths a lot.

Hmmm,

You've made a strong case, and now I must admit that I have before noticed an ever-so-slight lopping off of the initial transient. But I also admit that I attributed it to some sort of distortion due to the fast attack of the first kick drum (or whatever) immediately at the beginning of the file . (I read somewhere that this was an inherent problem with digital audio)

I've defeated it by beginning my bounce a quarter note (about 1/2 second at 120BPM) early. Works like a charm for me.

And as far as bouncing synths, in my experience, the combined delay of the MIDI. soundcard, and synth itself always prevented the first hit from being exactly on time, hence, I've never noticed anything out of line, more than my system's latency.

It's even worse when you do work with a UAD-1 card too on the Mac. Haven't noticed that problem with Cubase though. Just very 'strange' for a 'pro' program. You should also hear how it dumps its sound buffer with Atmosphere too. If there was a tail still going on for a release, you'll hear it at the beginning too if your intro is very quiet. Something Endmusik also pointed out to me. He knows more details on that one than I do. I got Atmosphere after I already got Cubase and sold my Logic license.

Am I missing something here or is Bus Delay Compensation different than Plug-in Delay Compensation? If they are the same, that's sad. I thought Logic had this before Steinberg introduced it in SX2. If this is all true, I sure am glad I'm a Cubase guy... (except I wish I had some of the plugs that come with Logic... DAMN!)

Devon, you know you can have logic bounce starting at bar 0 or bar -1 right?
