Its a distorted electric guitar sample library. It is supposed to be similar to Steve Vai's guitar sound. Its been around for a while. It sells for around $200.

jeff i don't have overdrive .. but i DO own loads of other VSL stuff... pro ed, epic horns, french oboe, glass and stones and solo strings..

i really cannot praise the quality of this stuff enough.

truly fantastic

That one is great, but I think I like Big Pig's Trick even better.

I think I am going to put off other purchases for a while to justify this one. I just hope it works right in sfz+ (gig beta).

I guess if it doesn't, I could look into whether it will work in VSampler Sonar OEM (or upgrade to the full version, if necessary). I really do not GigaStudio or to shell out for Kontakt.

By the way, I couldn't find the link to the "How to" page. The link sent me directly to the mp3.

Jeff.. the best way to find out if the performance tool and everything will work for you is ask the VSL team direct..

they are in that vsl forum all the time .. i bet they'd on ly be too glad to help you out.

if it's on their site that the set works as sfz+ then i'd be ok with it. even if they say it's a beta.. it means they're working on it . and those VSL guys work really hard so it'll be updated very soon

the samples will work .. because you can translate them into what ever format you like... but the beauty of VSL is the performance tools

double check they are available to you before you buy. I wouldn't like to see you miss the software ... that is what is covered in the DVD too

Rene' said that he had checked out many other VSL libraries with the performance tool and they worked fine. He also said that he would support sfz+ (gig beta) if there is a problem with Overdrive (and the performance tools), which I do not expect there to be any.

On the other hand, I am on the fence about purchasing. At a minimum, I am going to wait. Check out Northern Sounds, as some other developers are coming out with heavy guitar libraries.
