maybe 20 years from now there will be plugins that try to emulate 'that authentic amlitube-like aliasing sound'. i'm already trying to find a plug that will make music produced on a mac sound like it came from a pc. also, if i could get a plug that makes everything sound like it came thru creative soundblaster audigy? sonic nectre! :hihi:

Good point. What is 'authentic'? But I think the idea of this thread is that the claims to sound "like the real thing" will never be true, which obviously has its opponents and proponents.

I however use a PodXT not for it's emulations but because it works. It sounds like a, uhm, PodXT, to me. If I don't want that I'll buy something else. Plus it has the upside of working with both a Mac and a PC - and I can bring it along if I travel without my computer. I might get an amplitube so I can play when I only have my Mac.

But would I be able to distinguish a PodXT from a different product if someone played me a recording? Not a chance. That's not what I listen for.

Hey all, why don't we let the plug in come out before you say what hasn't been fixed or updated in this new version already. We have listend to our customers on a lot of things and have made major improvments to the app.

There is a video on Harmony Centrals NAMM coverage if you would like a sneak peek.

Hush, we're trying to have a conversation here.

Hey ...

Those links are broken or is it my internet-connection??

Post

Nik,

The links are fine, they lead to a Real Player video file. So that might be why.

Thanks Jason.
So far I'm not THAT much impressed I must say.
Waiting for more HQ demos or a software demo.

I have a Roland VG-88.
Like most ampmods it´s runned by software and sounds amazing ,however if I input it directly to some junk line inputs of many sound cards it will sound like crap.
AT1 i believe will suffer from this too and more because it´s quality depends on all the sound chain you´re using ;from the guitar thru the monitors.
I was very pleased with AT1 and i´m looking forward to try version 2.

Amplitube is not only a Ampmod ,with i nice VST Compressor ,and some weird filters could be the only plug a man need on a DAW ,it does almost everthing from modulation and delays too eq and reverbs.

I only care to know if AT2 delays are now in sync with the host tempo?

Post

Sasha,

Hey, well it is just a taste of AT 2, once the final release comes out and you have a chance to dig deep to make your decision.

Stag: You are EXACTLY right, you would be amazed on how much different AT or other amp sims sound depending on how you get your guitar to it. I use a Presonus mic preamp and its amazing the sound difference, less noise, it breathes differently. I wish more people like you were aware of this. This can make a huge difference in the final sound.

Hmm.. I've tried amplitude 1 trough a PROPER chain and ok:ish guitar. I was still not impressed. :?

Chain was guitar -> dbx 376 instrument input -> digitally into Audiophile 2496 -> amplitude. It had much much much less dynamics than a real amp. It's reaction to pinch harmonics are questionable (this is a good test on all digitally recreated amp modelling things) also 'flute' tones had very different "oomph" to them than a real amp. IMHO, vst plugins that model amps are still only 20% there. Can amplitude 2 deliver the last 80% of the REAL sound? We'll see..

i'm not a guitar master or a king of tone or anything, actually this is my first post and i don't know a single thing except for what I like when i hear it

i've never tried software amp modelling stuff either

i like guitars through tube-amps, ideally very very loud

i've tried lots of Pod stuff, and they all leave me cold and unhappy. I tried the SansAmp Classic box, and bought one. It doesn't come close to the sound of one of my amps, but it sounds a lot closer than anything I've heard from Line6. I don't understand why people don't talk about SansAmp when having discussions about amp modelling, it's the best i've found so far. then again, it could suck, but it works for me.

I agree - SansAmps sound great. While not being the best emulations (but then, who needs an emulation?!?), they seem to leave the signal and player interaction more intact than quite some other things.
Pretty high on my to buy list!
