I realize FLS doesn't have the market-share of say REASON but a 'how-to' book woulds certainly be welcome. The web-tuturials are helpful but I'd sure prefer a book of some sort.

Well that's good news. I've more-or-less sat on FLS for over a year now. I can wait another however-long.
Went to BORDERS yesterday and saw 4 different REASON books. I was mildly tempted to buy one and fire up my copy of REASON-ADAPTED - but frankly I don't want to get into yet another piece of music-software.

The fact that you cannot save your work in the FLS demo kind-of makes it difficult to evaluate the product.
Much of the 'must have' features do not present themselves until you really start playing with the thing, something you usually would only do once you had a project on the go, not during a one-sitting piss-about.
A time limit would be far better IMO. I bit the bullet and bought the XXL package, never looked back.

Analogue or digital – which is better? There's only one way to find out... FI-I-IGHT!!!

You can also gradient color and make groups. This is helpful once you have many instruments loaded.

What? It's awesome that you can do anything in it, EVEN bounce down the audio. If you're on XP, just leave the demo open and you can come back to it all the time. It's one of the best demo's I have ever seen imho.Cheat Mode wrote:The fact that you cannot save your work in the FLS demo kind-of makes it difficult to evaluate the product.

Thanks! I've been messing with FL a few days and I like the sequencer thus far and it rewires into my fav programs.
I just picked up an old issue of Computer Music (oct 04)today and it had a full page of shortkut keys for FL.

The numbers are about the same (even adding the Mac + PC Reason sales).BC wrote:I realize FLS doesn't have the market-share of say REASON ...
It's just that as half of our sales are download only & not having a Mac version (impossible for us) excludes FL from quite a lot of magazine / keyboard bundling deals, making FL look less apparant.
Anyway : A book is coming up.
See ya,

Seriously? I think the Help is very well-worded and helpful enough.BC wrote:I realize FLS doesn't have the market-share of say REASON but a 'how-to' book woulds certainly be welcome. The web-tuturials are helpful but I'd sure prefer a book of some sort.
Unless you are talking about technique?

Somebody sound the alarm! We've finally found someone at KVR who isn't a gearhead drooling for the next big thing to come out!!

I'm almost the opposite of the gear-head.
I want to use the minimum number of tools I have to and I want to understand those tools I do use. I *hate* having a huge list of VSTi/DXis and FX's to scroll through etc.
I'm happy with my primary host (SONAR4) and I find myself doing 99% of everything in there. However, I find the MIDI editing/sequencing tools in S4 a bit limiting (Ironic, isn't it?).
REASON is too much. FLS may be 'just right' but I can't get my head around it yet.

Jim Aikin put one out last year that is on Amazon but I think it is very basic. It is hard to do a good book on DAW's because by the time the book is out, the new version of the DAW comes out.
