Sidechains in Cubase

What do the Cubase users in here use for sidechaining?

At the moment I'm using TC Native Bundle but for some reason the Compressor seems to lose the connection to the sidechain plug whenever I reload a project meaning I have to manually set up each sidechain again - annoying when there's 10 or so in a track.

Are there any half-decent and reliable compressors that have a sidechain plugin for Cubase about?

just downloaded this - how does the sidechain actually work? All the documentation seems to be Japanese!

You probably should put it on a four channel bus and route the stereo signals to that bus. I haven't looked at it myself, but that's the most logical method.

You can do it with with the Waves compressor too.
It's just matter or routing the busses.

I presume you want to do "ducking" or something similar.
The main idea is to send the signal that you want to alter (bass?) to the right channel of the compressor and the signal that you want to trigger the compressor (kick?) to it's left channel.

I'm sorry for the pitty explanation, but my english is not very good and I'm afraid do not say something stupid

I've seen tutorials how to do this some time ago posted around the net.

The downside is that the track you want to compress will become mono.

Here's a tip: Using the way described on the url above you'll hear the bass(?) only on your right/left channel (depending on the routing).
To put it in the middle just rightclick on the panning slider on the compressor channel and choose "Stereo Dual Panner". You can see two sliders now - move the right one (presuming the bass is comming from right) to the center. Must do the trick. My english too

Soon the "Compadre" (VST/PC) compressor will be released. It supports true stereo sidechaining.

How will the Compadre do true stereo sideshain in Cubase with this little group channel routing trick? Will it have a separate sideshain input plug that links to it's counterpart compressor (like the TC compressor)?

I'm very interested in doing sidechain compression in Cubase, but the group channel trick will never work for me. My bass tracks have too much stereo imaging to route through a mono channel.

You need to use a quad channel group - that is a 4 channel bus. So you have stereo for the sidechain and stereo for the audio.

I believe the link tibenmik provided gives a good description of the process. If not - let me know and I'll see if I can explain better.

Thanks for all the useful advice people, I'm gonna check out the respective plugs and methods now.

I'd previously tried the old 'bodge' method using the Waves C1 Comp+Gate but as someone's mentioned, I couldn't get it working in stereo.. althoug it appears that it is possible!
