Is a sustain pedal supported in Fruity? I cannot find anything on this.

AFAIK no, it is not.
But you can play and then adjust the sustain in the piano roll!

Your sustain pedal will be connected to some sort of MIDI keyboard, most likely. FLS support for sustain pedal will most likely be similar to its support for mod wheel - you use "Link to controller" to connect the sustain pedal to the VSTI.

In the case of a VSTI that uses MIDI automation or learn rather than VSTI automation, you'll probably have to use a MIDI OUT controller that gets the keyboard, mod wheel, sustain, etc and link the port to the port on your VSTI.

I used to have the same problem until I had to ask around here and they gave me a pretty good tip.

1. Load your VSTi

2. Load a MIDI OUT generator.

3. Set both of them to the same port

4. Right click one of the knobs on the midi out and click "configure"

5. Set it to recieve CC 64 and click ok.

6. Right click the same knob and click "link to controller" and when the lil window pops up, just press your Sustain pedal.

This should work with most stuff. Remember that you have to record the MIDI into the MIDI OUT generator for them to be passed to the VSTi.

If I'm wrong on any of this stuff please correct me. I'm at work and I dont have FLStudio in front of me.

Thanks kode_poet. I was having the same problem and your step-by-step instructions worked perfectly.

I remember reading something on looptalk about global sustain pedal support being planned for a future update.

I thought so too. They kept saying it was going to be implemented in the next version, every since I registered which was in version 3. something. I was really expeting it this version 5. And I installed and was dissapointed. But then they stole my heart again with the envelopes, the fruity drum pads and the other lil extras here and there they added in version 5.

Wow.. would be cool if they implemented something where you don't have to link up sustain pedal support for yourself. Then again, while they're at it, why not implement the same thing for ALL MIDI CC's :D. Or if they're going to do just certain ones, at least the Mod Wheel.

Maybe it'll show up in Version 6. You actually use/like the new drumpad thingy (FPC?), kode_poet? I'm already in total awe of FL's drum-sequencing and drum-sampling efficiency and capability - does the FPC seem like a step down to anyone else? I'd rather they work on implementing a more practical FL VSTi solution (maybe it can even show up in a VSTi window like a normal VSTi, and it would be cool if its timing issues were fixed too).
