Anybody successfully using FXT with 1 host and 1 server sever setup?

If so, what are your host and server specs? And, how many fx's are you running? What is your host and sever CPU reading?

I'm try to decide wether to get FXT or buy a UAD-1 Studio Pak? I have a few pc parts but not a whole PC yet.

It will cost me about $349 to build into a 2.4ghz 533Mhz with the parts I have, but I don't know if it will be strong enough for FXT?

Your wisdom is needed...

I got it setup as one host, one server configuration... It's successful, besides the occasional drop out. I used it for about 2 weeks, thinking it was the coolest thing in the world... But the latency was kiling me. I feel better just bouncing or freezing my tracks lately.

If you decided to do the FX Teleport route, a 2.4gHz 553 fsb would do you fine. I ran/run it on a 1.5 ghz server PC for word processing, and such.

Honestly, UAD would probably be the best choice. Its much nicer and convenient to have everything running on one single PC.

I was leaning towards the UAD-1. Another month or 2 I should be able to afford it. Its kind of price, but people seem to love this thing. I just hope it works as good as everyone says it does...

Am trialing a teleport system at the moment and am very impressed. Latency can be an issue but as I have been putting VSTi onto the server (after recording the same part with the same VSTi on the host) I have not had any real problems at all.

Would love someone to let me trial a UAD-1 system but I know no one who has it

The trick with FX Teleport is to use a Gigabit Lan connection. That way you get get latency under 10 ms. It all depends how good your main sound card is.

The thing to remember about UAD is that it won't allow any extra VSTi power. The effects howerver, that come with the Studio or Ultra Paks are of an exceptional quality.

I suppose it comes down to cost, $100 for Teleport, $1000 for UAD!!

Do you have to reinstall you plug-ins on the FXT sever or can you just copy your VST plug-in folder into the server?

I have a 3G p4 desktop and a 1.6G centrino running fx teleport over a firewire lan. Latency is no problem as I only have synths on the server. All FX and samplers that stream stay on the desktop. fxteleport assures me that I have latency of 22ms but in reality it is closer to 13ms. I guess I could double that latency if I sent audio to the server to add fx and then sent that back to the host. I expect that is the latency the program is talking about.

I've had 10 stereo synth tracks running on it, including 3 big Tera patches and a couple of polyphonic Crystal instances. That was all pretty solid but when I put a Virsyn Cube track on as well it started to struggle. I've had similar problems on the P4 with Cube so I can't say for sure that it is a fx teleport issue.
