I always liked that too, along with 'The Day we Meet Again', and 'The Story in Your Eyes'. There was a thread recently about that.. Seem to recall Har pitching in with some gusto!

Oh yeah, definitely! I always thought "The Story in Your Eyes" would make a GREAT metal cover with that guitar riff. :) I was screwing around with it recently...maybe someday I'll eventually try recording it.

As far as live: I also saw them on their Long Distance Voyager tour (in Philly), with Patrick Moraz on the keys...he had a sizable bank of gear, but he seemed to be spending the most time on his CS-80. I had second row seats, but the wall in front of the stage was so high I could barely see anyone playing up there aside from Moraz and the top half of Justin Hayward's head. Sounded great, though.

During 1968-69 my friends and I were huge fans of the Moody Blues and spent alot time on LSD and having listening parties (other bands were listened to as well, the Beattles Seargent Peppers and Magical Mystery Tour were favorites also) But the Moodies were the main focus. The house we had the parties was painted silver and was made up to look like a flying saucer. Very trippy environment and many fond memories. It ended when there was a bust after several members of the group spent some evenings outside with a bonfire and singing the words to some of the tunes on To Our Childrens Childrens Children. One of the neigbors thought they were satanists and called the cops.

Saw them in concert twice during this time and they were great shows. Justin Heyward is a very good guitar player (always wanted a Gibson ES335 because of the sound he got. Michael Pinders Mellotron sound has made me a big fan of pads to this day.
My favorite Moodies song is Watching and Waiting. I got all the albums up to Seventh Sojurn. I lost track of them afterwards but have always watched the concerts when they would show up on television and am tempted to attend some of there concerts but it would be hard to see them without the mellotron, it defined their sound and I don't know if I could enjoy some of their older tunes without it. :(
If they come here to Buffalo I might be willing to give it a try tho :)

So they don't use a mellotron, or at least mellotron sounds from some other keyboard when playing live now?

Sometimes they have a real orchestra. Every time I saw them in TV or on videos in the past 25 years they didn´t use mellotron sounds anymore. :( Maybe because their mellotronist Mike Pinder isn´t a member anymore since 1976.

When I saw them a few years ago, they had some great Mellotron sounds, especially in "Nights in White Satin" and "Tuesday Afternoon"-obviously sampled, but it sure sounded like the real thing.
