Looking for a place to host your songs or other website? Check out vizaweb.com
I've been using them for a little while and they rock. LOW PRICES *AND* an actual phone number to call for support.
This is not an ad, I receive nothing if you sign up---I just can't believe how much better they are than my previous host. Check them out if you are looking for a host. Also, they have FANTASTICO. Very cool.
So, any other great (or bad) hosting experiences to share?

It’s a bunch of scripts – that allow the user an easy way to install them – I run two versions on my servers.Audioflux1 wrote:WTF is FANTASTICO?
I see this company house their servers in The Planets NOC, I was thinking of putting a couple of servers in the NOC there – how have you found the connection to your website – any blackouts or slow downs? I know we are all sharing the same backbones, but the planet have a bit of that themselves, just curious, bobaudio

Two sections to AudioShotjtxx000 wrote:why do you have 2 accounts?
one the hosting http://audioshot.com/
and then the artist promotion and select news (started this month) http://audioshots.com/
And at some point I want to get my own artist site up - so then this will have my link to my own website, and audioshots will be the hosting posting one.

Yes! Quite confusing, so I am making an effort whenever possible to re-enforce the two names and what they are for. I am pretty happy with the hosting side of things – but I found a lot of people where getting the free packages just to host mp3’s and not website to be seen – they do this so they can direct link in forums – due to the great number of sites that don’t allow direct linking and also the free services often require visitors to sign up before they can hear the artist tune. (of course the free ClearShot if a site is there you can direct link from to smaller forums and k-v-r)jtxx000 wrote:ahh... thanks for clearing that up, i was wondering about the whole audioshot audioshots thing
Now the AudioShot forum is for support for the packages (though 90% don't sign up to that forum and instead send emails
so I thought I would tie the need for free uploading and uninhibited downloading into The Auditorium and in special cases allow direct linking from the files too – (like for the k-v-r comps) I think this will give the artist more airtime on the net as viewers can just download – and even comment without first registering (that’s the audioshots auditorium forum http://audioshots.com/auditorium/ )
The other aspect of audioshots will be to promote the hidden artist, and also bring awareness to hosted artists at AudioShot – plus a couple of other plans not yet announced – I got to get the audioshots current feature set finished before I move it onto the next announcement.
The other part is discounts to select products for hosted clients – like the mastering service from XARC http://www.xarcmastering.com/ – all audioshot hosted clients will benefit discounts to this service – details to be announced.
Lots going on – this is the second part of AudioShot ‘s’
Best regards,
Peter

Hi Spe3d
I agree the Audioshot vs Audioshots thing is confusing. You've been hosting my site awhile and I admit I get mixed up as to what the difference is.
Also I just want say here since bobaudo asked:
Spe3d offers the best value that there is IMHO for hosting AND artist presentation. I don't know how he can charge so little and provide so much service to the musicians and the music community here at KVR and elsewhere.
My experience with Audioshot/Audioshots has been really positive. It is rare to find so much passion and compassion in one individual not to mention his extensive knowledge about the web and music.
Do yourself a favor, if you need hosting or a space to present your music give him a shot. In fact give him an Audioshot
You will be glad that you did.
Also if you click on my sig you can see the site that I put together that he is hosting. It's a little out of date(sorry) but you'll see that it is quite serviceable Spe3d was a huge help in making it happen!

That is enormous bandwidth and storage space for the money. Doesn't say if they do addon domains.bobaudio wrote:Looking for a place to host your songs or other website? Check out vizaweb.com

Yeah, they do addon domains.
AS far as speed, I have to admit that I do notice an occasional slow moment, but its rare and doesn't last long. It hasn't bothered me... I'm pretty happy with the bandwidth / space / features. Plus I really like ssh access which is hard to get at this price point sometimes.
btw, AudioShot(s) looks really nice. What a cool service. That's probably the way to go for a musician who wants to host a few songs and a simple page (for free!).
