Written in about this before, but I just can't get enough of this bass.

Bye bye machine gun sound, hello Adam Clayton  :D

I used to think Sonic Synth elec basses from Squids had the best overall tone regardless of their low price, even though other sets had more responsiveness.

But not so any more.

Scarbee has this mod wheel and keyswitching combination that lets the user select which string to want to play for each note, like on a real guitar.

The range of tone is superb. Doesn't need fx. In some ways it's nicer than my Ibanez bass.

So far I've only used the cheap cut down J-Slap version, but this is fine.

Interesting. Have you compared it with Trilogy?

To my eay, so far as I've heard from demos, Scarbee is definitely on top (but then again, it concentrates on just one instrument). Helps to have a sound designer that is more than sampling his own instrument, he also performance-modelled his stylistic nuance! :)

While I'm a bass player myself (and also love my Ibanez's sound!), I'm keeping a keen eye on whether Scarbee will be releasing a new version with Kontakt 2 programming improvements....

A little bit.

Trilogy doesn't let you select the string you want, and doesn't have as many switch options, but it does have a no-machine gun "octaves" option (which seems a funny way to play).

But Trilogy does give acoustic bass, lots of synths and lots of elec bass ... so if quantity's your thing ...

Scarbee sound is what I like most though.

Hey - tell us something we don't know!! ;-)

Scarbee still has a league of sampling library quality all to itself. Trilogy is quantity, Scarbee is pure quality - the stuff you can do with the J-Slap 'n' Fingered is truly remarkable. The Rhodes and Wurli are also way out there where other vintage keyboard libaries fear to tread. I can't wait for the VI version.

I know they're not for everybody, but for purists I could not agree more - this bass lirary is pretty much untouchable.

I think I'm gonna buy one of the small dl sets. hmm.

what bothers me is that I'm only allowed to dl it three times.

in real life that's usually enough, but in my case hds go bad, cds break...you see what I mean.

I like the Ohmforce way: it's there under your account and that's it.
