I went from Sonar 2.2/DirectIXer to Sonar 4/CW VST Wrapper without a hitch. This was true even before I installed the 4.01 and 4.02 updates.

The only VSTI that glitched on me was Microrock Pro (GUI issue) and Liqih had an answer for that (set the GUI size to 720x340). I don't have Imposcar, but I have Eve, and it went in fine.

Hi whyterabbit...totally bizarre, I know. I've sent a letter to Gmedia but haven't heard anything. I installed, uninstalled, reinstalled...the .dll is in the VST plug-in directory and Sonar blithefully skips over it with nary an error message or nothing. Doesn't show up in the registered wrapper area. Go figure. Probably something I did in a past life (or this one) but for the time being I can't figure out what it is. I'm sure it will be a matter of chagrin and humiliation when I learn what it is. Just in case, though, an exorcist is being called in.

Have you done a full reset-and-rescan of the adaptor? And have you checked if impOSCar has been Excluded in the Plugin Manager?

As for curing it, I'd strongly suggest tracking down Sonar information in the registry, even if you uninstall and reinstall, because there are parts of the application that stay in the registry.

When I cleaned up, my problems stopped. Next time I don't use Kontakt I'll try using "fast bounce" to render audio.

Bruce...what do you use to search and destroy in your registry?

Whyterabbit...It's not in the excluded groups but I am planning on doing a complete rescan. Does that wipe the slate clean completely and start from square one again, BTW?

Post

Yup, the reset should wipe all the current registry entries used by the adaptor. Does no harm, and the rescan should put things back as new. I do it all the time, usually when testing new VSTs out, but I find myself doing it a lot when testing out/developing SUBSonar funnily enough.
The rescan will search the folders again, so if you do both, you should have everything up to date.

Its perfectly safe... ;)

Yep...the reset function did the trick. But I'm not impressed with the VSt wrapper at all. For instance, after my first reset, everything was working and then I installed Vaz2010. (It had already been installed but then came up with a "can't load this plug-in...missing core .dll" error message. This error message has come up in some other instances as well...one day they were installed and working, the next boom, error.) After the install, the wrapper would/could not pick up the new .dll. Worked fine after the reset and rescan however and everything is back...at least for the time being.

One thing you should always do is set the 'retry if failed' option... basically seems to force the wrapper to include the plugin even if it thinks its broken.

Yup, its such a bugfest that the only things which have crashed my DAW since it was rebuilt on October are the Remote25 Patch Editor and AudioBulb's Sofia (in Chainer)...

And anyway; you couldnt get one single thing to work reliably anyways. You're the bloody problem! :hihi:
