just ripped some tunes from a "mixtape" I'm trying to compile:
48 Cameras - Angels will Yank this Boy to Heaven
David Sylvian - Maria
Telefon tel Aviv - ttv
System 7 - Sirenes (Tranquility mix)
except for System 7, those names can generally be connected with great, if not all the time beautiful (in the cheesy sense) music.
... and don't forget the usual suspects Björk, Air, Sigur Ros, Autechre, Vangelis etc.

man, I sent you a full cd with 20tracks and you haven't even mentioned a single one of them...Klemperer wrote:(actually nice to read about Radiohead songs here as I like them but didn't like them THIS much yet, and a friend who was at a tour after "hail to the thief" said it was the worst gig he'd ever seenbecause of the famous singer; so I'll check those songs out. Okay don't kill me...)
Legendary Pink Dots: princess coldheart (when played live...)
Peter Gabriel: here comes the flood
R.E.M country feedback (again: live)
Smashing pumpkins: quite a few on "mellon collie and the infinite sadness"
Kate Bush: sat in your lap and "all the love" from "dreaming" album
Tori Amos: (I remember a little quarrel here at KVR about Kate Bush and Tori Amos) red baron (or so) from "boys for Pele)
Cure: drowning man (very old, I think from the "faith" album)

Allan Holdsworth -- Distance vs. Desire
Jean Luc-Ponty -- Once a Blue Planet
Iona -- When I Survey
None of which strictly fit the original posters category, but...
(I'm leaving out tons of other things, because they don't come even close to fitting the category, but I can't not mention that every slow tune that Jeff Beck does sends shivers up and down my spine and causes me to weep like a baby...)

This Xmas, a 10 hour Live Aid DVD was issued and it has lots of tunes on it that your list choices slot right into.
V good actually, and v long, like your list ... but of course totally unamusing in the second telling

Ah - fairy 'nuff Kevvvvvvvvvvvv.
I've customarily avoided anything that has Live Aid associated with it which is probably why I couldn't make the connection.

But since I bought my brother the newly issued DVDs for Xmas and we sat and watched a chunk of it over the mince pies, it was quite an 80s revisited blast.
Sting playing like you've never heard him ... or Alison Moyet doing her stuff ... even Howard Jones live at piano.
Those blonde carefully coiffured New Romance teddy-boy haircuts were a scream.
Except for I Don't Like Mondays it was actually not bad at all.
(hmmm ... that's prob enough 80s gossip from me for now
)
Don't blame you ... all that Geldof wittering ... gets up my nose too.I've customarily avoided anything that has Live Aid associated with it which is probably why I couldn't make the connection.
